Game Proposal
Introduction
My experience in the Games section of ATRL was extremely limited prior to this August, when I was coincidentally browsing the iTunes thread during Let's Spoon Mini. I have been intrigued with long-lasting, challenge-based games ever since, and today I am proposing one of my own. The game that I am detailing here, titled Persistence, will promise to be an exhilarating, fiercely competitive contest.
Challenges
As I mentioned in the introduction, Persistence is a challenge-based game, and thus will consist of live daily challenges. These challenges will require at least a general knowledge of recent pop music charts, although not all challenges will be related to music. The first few people to complete the challenge (this number is dependent on the nature of the challenge as well as the number of signups to the game) will receive a certain number of points, also to be determined. A sample challenge might award points to the first five people to complete it in the following manner:
1st = 10 points
2nd = 7 points
3rd = 4 points
4th = 2 points
5th = 1 point
There will be a leaderboard (which will update following the conclusion of every round, obviously) to keep track of everybody's points. After all 60 of the "regular" challenges have been completed, the top 10 of the leaderboard will advance to the Final Ten portion of the game, which will consist of more difficult "special" daily challenges, culminating in the final, which the top 3 will participate in.
There are still details to work out regarding the challenges, but I will disclose that I have already devised 30 of the 60 challenges, and plan to create the rest over the next couple of days.
Eliminations
There are no eliminations until all 60 "regular" challenges have been completed. This is in order to maintain a competitive nature throughout the course of the game, and to ensure that all contestants have reasonable chances of making the Final Ten. Once the Final Ten is set, there will be daily eliminations for the last person to complete each challenge until there are 3 people left. These 3 people are the finalists.
I will detail in-game advantages and disadvantages as well as logistics in the game thread, if this game is approved.
