yes, but in US receives she enough love too! She could sell pretty well with her last 2 singles... and it seems that now she has a pretty solid support from radios too, and i hope, that it will make easier the adding process to her third single to be an another platinum hit!

The bad thing is that she decided to take a rest.
So her momentum will kinda fade
Let's hope for the contrary.

I can't wait to see her #1 there, I'm sure that her 4th album could debut #1 there, she's more and more huge in Canada !

I have a serious discussion question!
Do you guys think radio's care about requests or do they just play what's hot on itunes?
I ask because, with Naturally, I don't remember if it going top 10 on itunes resulted in it getting play or if it went top 10 because of radio? ( It had not been sent out for adds when it started selling like crazy.)
I've seen the same thing happen with a couple of songs on itunes now.
They're popular and THEN they get airplay. Especially if the artist in question is not huge or doesn't have a deal with radio.
Then you have songs like Marry The Night, with a huge number of requests by Monsters but it remained low on itunes and subsequently on radio.
Which brings me to HTL.. With NO PERFORMANCES OR OTHER PROMO on schedule; Can requests help even if sales aren't great? Or doesn't itunes matter if it's a good song?

" Hit the Lights" has everything to become a hit. it even has it in its title XD
The thing that is affecting was the previous release of "Who Says" (Both song are about giving a f#ck of what other people think, become stronger, reach your goals, and so on).
Even though this kind of things only affect between 5% and 11% of the sales/updates.
But I hope that because of being a different year, this can get the success it deserves.

i think it all depends on the song i mean if it is good then it will slay on itunes and radio but there r still some songs which r good but not radio friendly just take the example of country and jazz songs i mean luke bryan sales r very good he has 4 songs in top 100 but he doesn't get that much airplay but his album is doing really good same thing apply with norah jones her debut album was certified diamond but her singles never charted on bb or they charted at lower position

it depends on so many things.
1, what song has a buzz (Itunes, performance)
2, Program directors like it or not the song, the artists

Well HTL doesn't have much buzz right now. And Selena won't be actively promoting her album anymore. So it will all depend on radio deciding to spin it without any buzz. Damn it, I wish she'd perform at the KCA's!

you wrote that bec of the break from music Sel could lose her advantage which she got with LYLALS, but i think by this song radios will remember her very likeable song, and i hope she will have the support, but we will see end of march, early April!

Radio adds whatever they want, they don't have a precise way of adding.
Some songs are added for their sales performances (not only iTunes sales), some others are added for requests, some others are added for a deal, and others are added cuz the radio owners like that artist XD
In case of Marry the Night, Lady Gaga stans were requesting like crazy but radio didn't feel like it, because as we know Marry the Night isn't that radio-friendly, it's darker, even though its lyrics are normal for a dance track.
We Are Young, just started to gain spins thanks to its iTunes performances, and Love You Like a Love Song because of the request.
So there are a lot of ways, as you may see (I won't talk about the ones that are added thanks to Deals, cuz we know who they are, and those stans have to deal)

It's going to need some buzz though. A musicvideo she doesn't even mention anymore is not going to cut it, in my opinion.

as per requests is consider it will only help if the song is liked by radio stations and masses i mean if u request STARSHIPS OR POM then radio will play it more but if u will request some poor songs then they won't pay heed towards your requests

Tell me, what buzz had LYLALS in the last 2-3weeks? I didnt remember anything
.
.
.
.
.
and what could we see. LYLALS was in the TOP5 most played song after 8months by KIIS, Z100 and one of the biggest rhythmic station ( by this radios the song was #1 almost 2weeks )
So idont have bad feeling about the possible support!

And I remember that when I was studying marketing my teaches was the owner of 5 radio stations, that was back when there were Tik Tok, Bad Romance and 3. And somebody asked him why their station didn't play "Tik Tok" and he said "because we are not looking for new artists to promote, right now we only want the famous ones, like gaga or spears".
So you can imagine they do what they want, they can manipulate charts XD

Hmm. Because I was on HitsDailyDouble and the DJ's featured were pretty much using "I love..", "We think.." like requests don't even matter. I understand though, sometimes stans request a song like crazy just because we're stans ( I requested LYLALS like crazy but I don't like the song), so that's why I think radio's sometimes figure yeahh, it's the stans that are requesting and they decide to focus on itunes and the buzz surrounding a song.
Which is why HTL need a performance or a video featuring Ashlet Tisdale. Big Time Rush and other people lol.
