It's not actually falsetto, as I understand it.

Resonances and registration aside, the term "head voice" is commonly used to mean "high notes that are not falsetto or strained". For example when Pavarotti or Stevie Wonder slides from chest voice to a high C5 in full, balanced voice, this is referred to as "head voice".
Beginning singers who have difficulty controlling their vocal break need to be taught to eliminate and/or control the physiological conditions associated with falsetto or strain, and "head voice" is a term used to describe this process.[13] A strong falsetto is called a reinforced falsetto and a very light head voice is called voce di testa bianca or 'white head voice'.
High notes that are sung with balanced physiology do tend to have better resonance than falsetto or strained notes, so this definition does not usually contradict the other two.

No, I know it's not, I just couldn't think of another way to describe it! I study vocals at college and I was being taught about it not too long ago actually!

I guess there is really no way to describe it besides being between lower register and falsetto.

So much for Gaga having lost a load of radio support  I didn't know she was the 3rd most played artist on US radio last year (this is from soundscan btw)

She has by far the best recurrent airplay - she only had one major radio hit and two minor ones in 2011, so a lot of that is from her extremely strong TF(M) singles. Those didn't get huge AI, but 6 of the 7 were #1 in plays on the pop charts and are played often to this day.

From what I thought, head voice and falsetto are the same thing, it's just that they call it "head voice" for women and "falsetto" for men. And if I'm not mistaken, she uses her "head voice" at the beginning of "Government Hooker". Then again, I am also not a vocal expert, so I'm not sure.
I know that she does use it during her Y&I performance at the Grammy nominations and it sounded divine.

Diamonds looks like it's going to flop, which means its accompanying album will most likely flop as well. How much seething will occur when ARTPOP drops and Gaga reclaims her status as "most downloaded artist ever"?

i'm hoping that she does
we've had a hard time on ATRL during the BTW era, katy stans especially getting cocky because their fave managed to get 5 #1 singles, 3 of which were discounted and remixed
i can't wait for the tour numbers to come in

Yeah, but where is Katy in that list you posted? It's basically Gaga vs. Rihanna and Gaga's fanbase alone can push Gaga to the top. It'll happen.
By time ARTPOP drops, EDM should be either the norm or the upcoming norm on radio, and with ARTPOP being techno, complextro, dubstep, and EDM, it should do well. People act like Gaga's a non-factor. All she needs to do is release a catchy song and the GP will eat it up.

Judas and Telephone (clean) just passed 150,000,000 views on VEVO.
Born This Way should pass 100,000,000 tomorrow.
