I've thought about this and I think, for example, when Freddie Mercury dressed up as a woman for I Want to Break Free, or acted flamboyant people would have thought 'oh what a silly, entertaining man acting like that for the audience!' whereas now we are so exposed to LGBT culture that we hear Shawn Mendes open his mouth and he's already gay.
Because of so much tolerance, I feel like it's maybe created a boy that gay men in pop cater only for gay men unless they water themselves down like Sam Smith.
I guess we're all fascinating.
