But I can totally see Gaga doing it, though. She started hyping us too early. I kinda want the tour to come to an end already (assuming how selfish that sounds), and start the ARTPOP era. She's been teasing us so HARD lately, and imagining that we could not hear new music for more than 5 months is just awful.
I remember she said once at the Monster Ball in 2010, before she announced the BTW dates, that she thought of putting out the album after the tour finishes (May 2011), but she said that "her fans would kill her". I also remember that I was sure she would not make us wait until May, yet she did that. I assume it was Interscope's job, too.
Which reminds me that the 6-7 songs Vincent comment scared me a bit. I doubt Gaga would rush and put out the album in early 2013, as she said/promised, if there are not enough qualitative tracks. We know she's a perfectionist and she'd rather make us wait and have some real quality tracks that are just meant to be on that record. That bothers me a bit.
I think the whole problem was that the Born This Way era ended too early and she just was not ready to put out another album for this year. That was a bad trick to her, imo.
Let's hope at least we get some sort of confirmation anytime soon, though I doubt that'd be happening before New Year's.
