There's no real backlash. People are just stupid these days and buy into it cause they just HAVE to be accepted in the social media sphere.
Twitter is just a densely packed cluster of opinions. "Black twitter" or w/e's power is limited to what your imagination gives them. There's nothing wrong with a group of like-minded people voicing their opinion on a subject, but like, that's all they're doing.
People do too much on them and thus give them more power than they warrant.
All one has to do is look at Beyoncé's media strategy. She's gotten "backlash" for a lot of things, real backlash that circulated news and involved real government institutions. Yet she doesn't reply to any of it and it loses its edge.
