I feel as if I Miss You is a more heartfelt and personable song but I never really got into it, idek why

But Superpower makes me feel so many things. It makes me so contemplative. Like I get this feeling that it isn't just a love song, like the line:

and just like you I can't be scared
and just like you I hope I'm spared

makes me feel like there's so much more depth to the song than I originally thought, maybe I'm just being overly analytic but I feel like it has more to offer than I Miss You. That's my own personal opinion of course

I agree. Superpower is much deeper and its more than just a love song. You can easily connect to it and it doesn't HAVE to be love.

It's irritating me because I wanted to love this new album more than anything. Bey obviously put a lot of time and effort into it and that's one of the things that bugs me. If this had been a quick EP or something along those lines I wouldn't mind, but the fact that this was her dream and personal creation, and I can't manage to find the spark in it, really irks me. I mean- I can appreciate the art, effort and attention to detail but the music just isn't speaking to me on a level that I want. Maybe it's just too mature for me. I've always been the type that stuck to the safer side of music (ie. Mariah) and I know Bey has never been exactly "innocent" but my favourite songs by her are the ones that are more tame. Crazy In Love, He Still Loves Me, Love On Top, Speechless, Halo, Disappear, Ave Maria etc. Having this album that's filled with dirty, sexual and/or hood songs really threw me off. Lyrics like "Oh he so horny, yeah he want to ****" and "let me sit this ass on you" completely threw me off upon first listen and instantly put a bad taste in my mouth. I know it's suppose to be like a feminist movement showing that girls can express their sexuality but I don't know- it's not me. + that song where she says GD a lot

I don't know. I still LOVE Bey and she's still my favourite artist, I'm just disappointed. Not in the sense that she didn't deliver quality music, but rather disappointed because I couldn't get into it. I feel like I'm missing something big and I can't help that. I'm in this weird spot where I'm mad at Bey for throwing this at me and mad at myself for not enjoying it properly.

Probably taking this all too seriously.
I'm not hating on Bey, I just need to rant a biT.

Still, I hope she continues to slay this era and gets all the recognition she deserves.
Perhaps I'll be able to better appreciate the album later on down the road.

Can't relate. My ears were created to hear Bey's music. She just has my taste in music and I am not exaggerating.
