I don't know what people were expecting? I think this is incredible and exceeds my expectations by a ton. Rih stays being extremely versatile and trying new things!
I remember some controversy like this when Diamonds was released.
Later it smashed and everybody loved it. A reverse ARTPOP tea.
But at the same time all those people going "career growth" "real music not the EDM noises" will say that it was just a buzz single if it doesn't do well and delete it from their playlists.
I definitely think this could make older generations more likely to appreciate and recognise the talent of both Rih and Ye but especially the former. R8 will be her most acclaimed era/album.
I really hope this gets a simple video of all three of them in the studio jamming or something of the like. Just something simple and joyous, like the song.

DEATH at this being compared to Diamonds though- my favorite Rih song that I loved from first listen. Her voice is best when she sings in her nice, full lower register not this straining mess with ye and Paul.
