most of the big commercial Animes are like that. Old world, special powers, funny with tear jerker moments. Avatar actually fits in the classic anime category with its themes and plot.
That's the whole point of it being anime influenced, lol
Teen Titans is more of a better example (not the new one)
It's sad because the show was so promising, especially in the 90s

Will and grace was the first time a non cable show had gay characters, even more, it was CENTERED around the gay characters. It's thanks to it that gays are allowed on the big chanels instead of 3rd rate TV shows Maniston will be doing in a couple of years

The reason South Park is successful is because it adapted to the times, and its latest season featured an overhaul of the scenery, characters, and plot line to reflect modern issues
