Yes, Trouble had sth to do with it I'm sure, plus the GIADJ vid being atrocious, but that's not the main thing.
She's said herself that she didn't put all of herself/as much effort into that album, and it shows. It's quite simply NOT up to the standard of all the other post-CTMH albums. It's just not. That's not to say it's terrible, or even that it DESERVED to flop, it's just understandable. It's a lot more understandable than it would have been for any of her other albums to have flopped like that.
As a matter of fact, I'm gonna go look up the tracklist and count the awful filler songs.

5/13 songs, a much higher filler ratio than any album but CTMH
I think fans are so used to defending that album fro criticism that it flopped that they've convinced themselves it was some kind of masterpiece. If that album had done reasonably well and WASN'T in constant need of defending from the GP, I'm pretty sure it'd be solidly in 90% of the fanbases bottom 3 of her albums where it belongs.
