She is at a point in her career where artists struggle the most, and after the 4 era, I can totally see why her label is so cautious. The music scene is changing, and most of her peers are not even slaying like they used to.

I feel like this is the perfect climate for her to really smash though. They just have to select the correct material.

It wouldn't have been "authentic" to most people who like that type of music and who are familiar with Katy. Then I can't imagine Katy's main fanbase going for that too much.

Alanis is lucky because before Jagged Little Pill, she was making local Canadian dance-pop similar to Katy's music. No one really knows about it.

For some (probably delusional reason), I don't see it being much different from what we're hearing.

That melody would make no sense in EDM format. I don't think ARTPOP is as EDM as we're expecting; I mean... Too $hort and Twista.

I think the potential for pure EDM is more worrisome with the Madeon and Zedd productions. A lot of DJWS's stuff is very UN-EDM.
