I understand because many of the lyrics are not easy to hear but I'm not sure how that lyric makes much sense...is that drug or alcohol related but i understand this song's lyrics can be easily misinterpreted

Let's say it again, a Katy's flop is not a flop in general. Entering the top20 on iTunes and Billboard without being the lead single is success. (Unconditionally went platinum, topped some billboard charts, it has a vevo certified video, Birthday topped 1 Billboard chart and it's almost gold certified in US)

Birthday and Roar sounded abd looked like novelty songs especially Birthday. Also California girls isn't really a novelty song tbh.

But yes her novelty-ish sounding songs do good (for the exception of Birthday)
