Probably because she KNOWS it was one of the best Pop Era's ever. She doesn't want her new music and image compared to that every single ****ing time, so IMO at least it makes sense for her to kill that image and persona to make room for the new.

Everything will still be remembered, and I'm sure she loved every moment of the TD era. Well most of the moments.
