There's nothing wrong with clichés, though. Mainly, the only ones who aren't doing them are alternative-rock acts (well, most of them anyway), and the ones who try to be all fancy and different outside of that crowd end up sucking anyway. But my goodness, "Roar" How many co-writers are there?
When Katy will bring out the great songs (hopefully not locally great like Teenage Dream and E.T), the others won't have a chance.

Roar VMA performance was almost as embarrassing as Miley. Katy is embarrassingly literal, but it will always connect her to the GP, which is mostly comprised of idiots.

She said multiple times that she was going to go a different route for this album and Roar is just not it. The lead single should have been amazing and a step away from her old music.
Try is an example of cliches done right. Roar, on the other hand, might be used as a more pleasant way to practice bulimia. Oh wait, I'd prefer fingering my throat.
