Of course! I am not saying emotion doesn't play a part on the vocalist equation. But it's definitely not more important than technique, discipline, etc. And those lists are made by journalist, not really vocal experts so I don't give them credit at all, specially not to the RS one.
Xtina had a wide range on studio in the past, but her tessitura, which is what truly matters, has always been quite small (Unsupported low notes + thin sound + lack of resonance while belting + disconnected head voice). Tessitura is the part of your range where you are most confortable at while singing. That's why discipline and technique are important, only through them you can expand your tessitura, regardless of your range. Take Whitney as an example, her range barely surpassed the 3 octaves, yet her tessitura was almost as wide as her entire range. Would you say Xtina is a better singer than Whitney because she has a wider range? I hope the answer is a resonant NO!
She's definitely improved from Lotus, but it's still not enough. She still can get way better and I hope she realizes that before it's too late.

I do agree that Whitney is a better vocalist. I was actually surprised to learn last year that Christina had a larger range than Whitney (and second overall to Mariah for female vocalists). That's certainly a testament to Whitney's ability as a vocalist.
And to be honest, I am by NO means a vocal critic either, as my opinion was solely based on what's pleasing to my ears (of course that's very subjective!).
PS - loved your post in the 'Is Christina a legend' thread. It frustrates me that so many ATRL stans (especially Britney ones) equate success and "legendary status" only by album sales (even tho X's album sales are still impressive).
