The Globes have heigthened his chances but I can't really see it. McConaughey's role seems right up the Academy's alley and Chiwetel shouldn't be ignored just because he didn't win at the Globes, either.

That's because of the fickle and superficial nature of the music industry.

MANY not all films bring together like near a 100 talented like minded people whose sole aim is to make a critically acclaimed film. The hype machine surrounding a critically acclaimed film is much bigger, lucrative and profitable than that surrounding a critically acclaimed album. Think about Argo, Gravity etc.

Meanwhile, the music industry brings together a couple dozen talented people under the direction of a few whose sole aim is to make as much money as they can. And often, the least talented person is the face of it all (Katy, Rihanna, Britney). Hence, the lack of credibility the Grammys has when it gives awards to them..despite them being backed by well-deserving talented people.

I don't see Leo getting an Oscar any time soon. His best movies were earlier in his career, some he should've won for (The Aviator especially). He just had bad timing back then, always being up against even better performances, and now he has been kind of hit-or-miss for me with his role choices. Thought he would save Gatsby, but that movie was mostly a trainwreck

Sometimes the Oscars just get it wrong Lots of actors who were never recognized (or recognized late into their careers).

I think TMP started off rocky (held together by Mindy herself, of course) but has really grown into itself, the characters are getting better, etc.. People just need to give it a chance Chris Messina has really had some great material lately too, with the Aaliyah dance and the nude photos.
