Her perfume commercial is launching right after the VMAs (which I would think would feature her new single?) and she's filmed a VMA commercial, so she'll probably play a substantial role in the show. The single's gotta be coming in the next few weeks.
I have no doubt it's gotta be soon. And Katy already knows the dates and has a plan. My guess is that Capitol wants to keep everything as quiet as possible because they are probably planning something BIG! It's all gonna come to light within 30 days at the VMAs, if not sooner. The hard part is just continuing to stay patient
Well known for writing her own material, what will her third studio album, the follow-up to the six-million-selling Teenage Dream sound like? Adele's 21?
“You know, not everything in life is terrible, although I am not singing about how fabulous everything is all the time. I have a lot of fun in my life, and I want my records to reflect that.”
The pop superstar, 28, reprises her role as the voice of Smurfette in Smurfs 2, out July 31.
Were you excited about taking on this part again?
Yeah. The jokes are funnier, the animation is crisper, and this story focuses on Smurfette.
What was the process like?
Comfortable! I showed up in my pajamas. Once you’re in the business for a while, you realize there’s no point in primping most days. That energy goes into my work. The red carpet is when I’m in peacock mode.
Are you working on a new album?
It’s difficult for me to do the voice of Smurfette and then go straight into recording, because her voice is raspier than mine. I needed a buffer. I’ve started the album, though, and it’s going along fantastically.
You have a huge presence on Twitter.
I love it. It’s like picking up the phone and communicating with 39 million people. I just have to watch my spelling!
Where would you like to be in 10 years?
I’ll be almost 40, so I’ll want to have kids and be working on an acoustic record. I’d like to run a record label. And I’ll need to stop wearing onesies. [laughs]
