Yes! Well, I don't know who you are talking to or about but I like static avatars that use brightness/contrast/colors to their advantage. Also, it's nice when an avatar has considerate dimensions and maybe a border.
I'm seeing different avatars than a couple of days ago... I hope people don't keep changing their avatars repeatedly... it makes it hard to compare -_-
