I think if you took the 26 best-performing markets for Titanic this weekend it'd still be ahead, especially since the reported number for China seems to lower than what the local trackers are saying ($58m vs. $79m).

how about if you use the same 26 places for both films... I doubt it would be ahead then... Titanic is only ahead cause of China... Battleship hasn't premiered there yet

I'm hoping for an "Insidious" situation, but it'll probably make ~35Mill domestic when all is said and done.

I don't care though, there will never be a sequel, and Drew Goddard will still be getting work (he's the first choice to direct Cloverfield 2 if Matt Reeves can't do it).

I don't see it having Insidious legs. That movie kind of came out of nowhere with almost no hype (and a $1.5M budget) and did over $50M on the strength of good word of mouth from satisfying horror fans as opposite to fanboys.
