I started a second story a week or so ago inspired by this album. The four main characters are the archetypes:
Virginia is Su-Barbie-A, a suburban housewife that feels a bit controlled, but also has this more pretty girl side to her.
Harley is Teen Idle, neice of Virginia, a cheerleader on the verge of suicide, trying desperately to stay on top of her high school, but failing. She tries to play a tough girl, but is shattered inside.
Tamara is the Primadonna, a beautiful girl about to take Harley's spot as the most popular girl, and just about as beautiful. She trumps everyone in everything, being amazingly talented, which makes her an easy target for jealousy.
Last but not least, Marina (not saying our Marina applies to any archetype specifically) is the Homewrecker, who has seduced many men into cheating on their wives, then leaving them once their wives find out. Her current target? Virgina's husband.
I thank Marina for inspiring me so much.

I just realised how many people are misinterpreting the Teen Idle archetype. It doesn't mean someone who's feeling super suicidal, and burns up bibles and so on. The lyrics are "I wish I'd been a teen idle, a prom queen fighting for the title instead of being sixteen and burning up a bible feeling super suicidal". A Teen Idle is basically a popular fake blonde prom queen at high school who does pretty much nothing. Kind of a young Primadonna.

The song is from the perspective of a grown woman regretting how angsty she was as a teen, she wishes she was a bottle blonde, a real fake, a prom queen, a teen idle etc., instead adolescence didn't make sense and she was sixteen burning up a bible feeling super suicidal. The word "instead" contrasts the latter (a suicidal bible burner) with the former (a prom queen teen idle).

A song's meaning is subjective, depending on who is thinking about it.

Teen Idle is the pretentious girl who thinks she's the best and basically thinks she's too good to be doing all the things that are stereotypically what teenagers do, she feels she was better than that.

That's how I'm interpreting it.
