Because most groups atleast 3 era's and because of the mess surrounding it. The group has still an image of "Nicole and the bgdancers", "The glorified strippergroup" etc.
Most groups started out with just a bunch of random girls, that were either formed themselves or by a management team.
PCD was formed after a concept of a Burlesque show, still by a management, but they were molded after a different concept and it might be a reason why they rather get paid dust than get acknowledged in their succes.
Destiny's Child also was Bey's show, but they made it enough balanced all together.
