Basically the same thing happened with CMM, Bieber and his friends made a video singing the song, the video went viral and BAM - Call Me Maybe ended up being the song of the year.

But his power isn't as big as it used to be

Now that I've properly listened to this, I'm sort of bewildered as to how anyone could say this sounds anything like New Romantics. Of all the songs on that album, Out of the Woods is the only one I could sort of see anyone drawing a comparison to (granted this song is approximately infinitely better considering Carly Rae and co. actually bothered to write a chorus), what with those drums and everything. New Romantics is hardly an original song anyway. It rips off about five Passion Pit songs.

Also not getting how anyone could say it has too many "really"s. The chorus is ace.
