But if the Navy wants to come for Bey, they'll first have to reckon with the fact that Billboard's YE artist list has her below Twenty One Pilots. I have no problem with Rihanna alone. Rihanna used again Bey on the other hand, is problematic.
I'm sure she meant worldwide, so let's wait for IFPI's year-end list (where the Crazy In Love and Single Ladies tour rightfully does not count).
Well Beyoncé has album sales and more importantly touring numbers over Rihanna. That's what put her above her on the overall ranking.
There is no comparison between the two overall. Obviously Beyoncé is miles above - she's truly nearing ACTUAL legend status, if not already there. Nobody else in the last 20+ years can claim that.
But when objectively comparing the current year, I can see the argument the navy makes. Hit singles are more relevant than touring numbers. And the latter is why Bey ranks higher. ....but. Formation def did make a huge cultural impact and everyone knows and loves it. It's up there with Work as one of the biggest hits of the year, atleast here in the US
