It depends on how these things work. From the sounds of it, the app sounds like the definitive version/full experience for ARTPOP. I think you can maybe listen to the album via the app. I think she'll probably give a free download code to physical copies, include the app downloaded in the digital album or allow people to purchase the app as another way to experience her project.

Her next album won't be free. She's said she'd like to do that but it would be a terrible move for Interscope/UMG financially.

Yeah. I should be like that. You buy the album, then you get a code for the app. It would make no sense to sell app as a separate bundle when it's just to enhance the experience, imo.

I don't think they meant totally free. But the possibilities are there especially if there's an app in play. Like listening to the album for free through the app device plus having all the other features on there for a certain price. Who knows how it may work out.

That's true i'd quite like it like that. I'd also like for her to make a cool design for the actual album. Might as well go all out on it.

I disagree. Re-read her letter. At the end she said 'Don't worry. It will also be available in regular physical and digital releases seperate and unique from the app.'

This outright states that the app will be sold seperately. We have to move away from thinking and refering to ARTPOP as just the album and more as a project. She wants ARTPOP to be a full cultural experience, having music, art and social experiences wrapped into one package. From the impression I get you'll be able to listen to the album through the ARTPOP app. It isn't meant to enhance the experience, it is a part of the experience. She doesn't want it to be just some extra found in the super duper fan edition packages.
