Are you bored of "scary" movies that use loud music to make you jump? Are you sick of pu**y-ass directors with ZERO imagination leaving the monster "up to the audience because it's scarier that way"? Are you tired of wasting money on horror movies where the protagonist is about to see something scary, then they open the door and there is f***ing NOTHING THERE except a total waste of your anticipation?
Then you are going to love this.
It's about a haunted house, familiar territory for all of us, but this movie is a loving tribute to horror back when it actually used to BE horror.. Audiences today come out of the cinema disappointed by jerky cameras, loud jump music, catching like a blurry half-peek at a shadow running by the camera, and that's supposed to scare us because directors have completely run out of ideas, but this movie is completely different. The bad guys in this film are absolutely monstrous, and they are the STARS of the film. The producers are not afraid to show you their faces dead-on, and you will love every spine-chilling moment of it.
Watch it in the dark, and don't take your eyes off it for a second. This film is by far the boldest, most daring, most provocative movie I have seen in years.
WOW, you just got me REALLY excited. I literally just said in this thread that i need a horror movie to SNATCH me, like REALLY scare me. I haven't seen a horror movie that good in such a long time. I'll definitely check this out.

PLEASE post your reaction. I loved this movie SO MUCH, it deserves to be way more famous than The Purge/Paranormal Activity/It Follows and all that other face-value dreck. I want to spread it to as many horror lovers as possible and see what they think. Finally a horror movie that is more horror than gimmick. The people who made this film are not stupid, and they are respectful enough to know their audience is not stupid either.

I'll watch it tonight I'm legit excited. I've been searching for a horror movie to really SCARE me for such a long time.
i have a great feeling about this. I wanna be stoned AF for this. So much more intense experience. I literally cannot watch a horror movie sober nowadays.
I'll post my reaction tonight after i watch this.
I was browsing Netflix the other night & found the remake/semi-sequel of The Town That Dreaded Sundown. Honestly, I was so bored. It's literally just a run of the mill slasher film with characters we don't care about. Was quite disappointed, but for some reason I watched the whole thing.
I deleted We Are Still Here halfway through the movie. Ain't nobody got time for the correcaminos monsters/zombies/ghosts and the family drama, it was a borefest.

It's funny because I knew nothing about the movie when I watched it, I only put it on because I saw the poster and thought it was GORGEOUS, if they put that much effort into making the picture look good then they must have put in some effort into making a decent movie, and I was very happy to find I was right
and omg at your movie! I don't want to jinx it, but it's actually reminding me a bit of the novel I am writing! I hope they don't have the same twist I do because otherwise I can't publish it
I am loving how quiet and claustrophobic it feels! I'll check it out tonight and tell you what I think!

How DARE you put It Slays in the same grouping as those other trash films. It Follows is literally the best horror film of 2015, with We Are Still Here a close second.

HA HA! Okay, I'll replace that with ... hmm ... Crimson Peak, that movie was GOD AWFUL. Guillermo, gurl, what did you do to your career? Go back to Pan's Labyrinth and repent for your sins.

A mess Crimson Peak was flawless, a visual masterpiece and the story was so riveting.

Honey, no.
It was a dull predictable lame-brained attempt to recreate a Wilkie Collins novel.
Glad you loved We Are Still Here tho everything just seems so tame and boring after watching that masterpiece. I've actually had to go back several decades just to find something to match it. Right now I am downloading Burnt Offerings.
