As Optimus said, this look was art. I remember reading an explanation of this VMA look and I said "Wow" because she put so much thought into its meaning. Now the things she does are obnoxious and admittedly pretentious. No one cares about having a reverse Warholian experience. Just give us amazing music and we'll support whatever. She was already doing everything that she claims she wants to do with the ARTPOP era. Her 2009/2010 work was already art. Why fix what ain't broken?

Her sex songs are good but it becomes a bit too repetitive on ARTPOP and so as a whole the album comes across as being very depthless.

I've been converted and I love the dark and gloomy R&B funk to Sex Dreams. It could have done without the adlibs in the chorus though so the synths could really shine through.

I could imagine it having a dark, film noir-styled detective video... but the Goddess of Love would probably adorn herself in barnacles and frolic around in a ball pit

I loved it SO much at the swinefest. she could've left out the "you. were. in. my." but kept the "don't stop the party" etc on the refrain in the 2nd chorus so it didn't sound so repetitive like it did at the swinefest. it would've been even more perfect

This, and then I probably could have done with 'Making love in my sex dreams' perhaps repeated a little more at the end of the first chorus to solidify it as a hook.

Even still IFPI-topping Dreams is a decent pop song
