Well the first 2 at least had suspense and interesting characters. Torture movies like Saw are at least entertaining on a technical level, gore requires more talent and skill than the cheap jump scares and CGI ghosts in current horror movies.

But yeah they're not really scary

The early 2000s was probably the best era for horror movies, they were mainstream and got bigger budgets and also more known stars. I loved that Kelly Rowland was in Freddy vs. Jason, more pop girls should be in horror movies tbh.
