I wasn't trying to call her out, most #1's were discounted then when they were released. I think it was Eternium who posted about the discounted #1's. It just had to do with the singles market dying. Destiny's Child, J. Lo, etc had discounted #1's during that time too. But people only like to bring up Mariah's.
A lot of JLos hits were counterfeit. Sony got fined millions for using payola to get her airplay.
Britney needs to pretend Pretty Girls never happened, end the residency once the current batch of shows finish, go away for like 6 months and come back with a country tinged adult contemporary album. Come up somehow with a song like "Girl Crush". That's the only way I can see her still having a relevant career.
Ha only discounted #1's are My All / Heartbreaker / TGIFY.
Honey had no mention of a discount & was the lead single following a Diamond era with 3 #1's so I'd give it benefit of tha doubt.
But when you factor:
Shake It Off peaked #2 because she literally blocked herself with We Belong Together.
Can't Let Go peaked #2 because her label purposely took the single out stores to make the album sell more.
Without You is ha biggest hit and should've been #1.

Terrible idea. You know how many pop stars and rock stars failed
trying to do a "country-type" record? Country didn't even want Kelly Clarkson.
