Considering my coins are going into the industry, I certainly do consider myself apart of it! We are consumers of the industry despite our geographic location.

Increasing inter-connectivity has unfortunately led to very one-sided exchanges of culture and language. That is why we hear about westernization a lot more than easternization. Also why a red squiggly line shows up when I type easternization but not westernization...

don't get it twisted, the only "we" is the creators there. And k-pop is pretty damn admirable because it's not based in old practices, xenophobia & restrictive sales. There's nothing wrong with it. There's a lot of the stuff you like in your music in there. There's plenty of music that might as well be directly tailored to your interests.

Highly disagree. Demand dictates what is provided. Consumers are an integral part of any industry, simple economics. Creators of Americanized K-Pop wouldn't create Americanized K-Pop if it wasn't desired. K-pop is becoming worldwide more quickly than J-Pop because pricing models fit the west more easily and the music is heavily westernized. Nothing wrong with that but as I already typed (and you ignored) there is a disparity of cultural exchange, which IS unfortunate. It's exactly why Japan is so actively resistant to change.

Part of that disparity is because of the people producing that culture.

If they didn't block videos on American websites to American users, and refuse to put things on iTunes, maybe people would actually be watching and buying those things.

There's absolutely NO reason they can't buckle down, stop using the pricing models from the 1990s when the cost of living and methods of acquiring media were TOTALLY different, and stop running the industry like a secret club barred off to outsiders.

It's just a bunch of yakuza-like scumbags who don't want to change because they're waiting until they can no longer get away with it. You think the industry is still successful? No, AKB is still successful, the rest of the industry knows damn well that they're getting screwed and can't do anything about it because their careers depend on cooperation with the people who release and promote their art.

Change isn't easy for any country, I don't know what to tell you. You could say the same about the decreasing American market. Physical sales peaked forever ago and when digital sales were expected to compensate, they suddenly started to peak as well. People ask for lowering of digital prices (considering you aren't getting anything physical in the transaction) and what do we get? $1.29 singles instead of $0.99 because the labels want more money and MAYBE an album discount down the line (which physical albums go down to as well).

And who are you kidding, it's western culture that should be condemned for their xenophobia. K-Pop has been reduced to "haha, look at the fat chinese man dancing in that video". Korea's influence is in no way comparable to america's on SK.

I realize it's unlikely to get one from a tor file that isn't executable but I've done nothing on my computer except use iTunes, go on ATRL and download that file. I opened up the file and utorren started doing funky things. The album never even initiated for downloading so I don't even have the damn music to show for all this effort!! Now I have a damn pureleads.virus

my antivirus doesn't even detect it

Yeah there's absolutely no way you could've got a virus from t*rrenting, especially on a private one like Jpopsuki that has rules and regulation... I've never heard of someone getting a virus even from public trrents

You probably just got it from some sketchy site and it didn't do anything until later... but do viruses even exist in this day and age? I haven't got one since 2005 and I don't even use antivirus software

I honestly haven't gotten one since upgrading to Windows 7 either. You have to try these days. Even then, there's ways to isolate executable files before it's too late now.
