She has always been amazing and since the start her destiny was to become the empress of nowadays Pop music. She allows people to see the light in this obscure time where R&Boring and Urban songs sadly saturate radios and charts
I agree with you, I don't like that the trend right now is to combine pop with R&B and Urban
I prefer pure pop, electro-pop or pop-rock

I know. I do know that that's my personal taste but I find 90% of R&B and Urban songs extremely boring and without a personality, they literally don't give me anything
One of the reasons why I admire Carly is that she has the balls to make pop music in a time where it's not that appreciated from the GP, she makes it because she loves it, she's the definition of a true artist honestly.
First Time SLAYS most of pop girls discographies (Katy, Rihanna, Britney WHATS GOOD)
First Time honestly deserves a music video like now, immediately. It's already charting in Japan @ #33 Billboard Japan's Hot Radio Songs chart with literally 0 promo. The song has so much potential, and I'm not saying this because I'm a stan, but it's literally the most 80s song of like the past 20 years with the right cards it could really smash in Japan and outside Japan.
Tbh I don't really care if Carly has a smash or not, see, KISS is a great album and it had Call Me Maybe, the biggest song ever (digital) yet EMOTION had no hits and it's her best album. As long as the music is great I don't really care for hits (even if it would be great to hear Carly on radio again)

E•MO•TION had I Really Like You, which was a massive smash in Asia (especially in Japan) and a hit in the UK
I think that it's important for her to release bubblegum first singles and then do whatever she wants with the other tracks, I'm saying this because of Japan, which is her most important market. Another strategy would be to have two different first singles, one for Japan and one for the rest of the world. Anyway, Japan is vital for her so she really has to focus on what japanese people like, at least for the first single.
I Really Like You's concept fits the genre but the song as a whole sounds too overproduced/agressive in comparasion to other bubblegum songs.
Honestly, I only consider the "Curiosity" EP as bubblegum from her catalog, now that record is the epitome of it.
What do you mean with "overproduced"? This is a bubblegum song to me and it's definitely "aggressive":
While, imo, the Curiosity, besides Call Me Maybe, is simply Pop but idk, I mean everybody has a different conception of some genres, especially if they're not that distant.
Bubblegum Pop tends to be a lot juvenile and carefree in terms of both lyrical content and sonically.
The song that you posted sounds straight up dance, for me and I don't claim "pop" as genre other than "popular music". But yeah, like you said everybody has a different conception of some genres.

I'm super sorry for this late reply, but I was working out at the gym and I didn't know how to post video from mobile
I agree about your definition of the genre anyway, here's the video I wanted to post while I was at the gym:
To me both songs are bubblegum pop, for their visuals, melody and lyrics, they just have different tempos to me
