And there you have it folks. Leona’s out. I thought that this song was gonna dominate the rate, but there was actually a point (I think at around 15 voters in) that this didn’t even make the top 10. Still, it climbed its way all the way to here. I know it’s weird to say this seeing how I gave it a 2, but this song has grown on me a lot. Words cannot describe how much I hated it when radio would not stop playing it. I despised it, I despised Leona and I despised everyone else for making it popular. Now I can actually listen to it and see why other people like it so much, even if I don’t. Anyways, it’s not like this song actually needed to win this rate. It’s been nominated for Grammy’s, topped the charts in 34 countries, been ranked the 17th most successful single in the US from 2000-2009. Most importantly, it launched Leona into the star she is today. It was a monster, and even I can’t say that it didn’t deserve to place top 2.

How did this happen? I thought that this song MIGHT crack the top 10, but number 1? Damn. Call My Name was definitely a grower for me. At first I was really underwhelmed, it just seemed like your average dance track. Now I love it, not as much as Promise This, Parachute or FFTL but still. The pounding synth beat and the pure catchiness of the chorus both make this song a standout in Cheryl’s discography. Also, this is probably my second favorite Calvin song after Only the Horses. We Found Love can stay seething near the end of the list where it belongs. I put the #1 peak because we might as well not deny the inevitable. Can’t say I’m mad about this winning, especially when considering it’s contender. But there ya have it.
