If you're referencing the Supreme Court decisions, he can. He appointed two liberal Justices who voted for it, and perhaps public opinion wouldn't be were it was now with McCain at the helm.
Oh for sure the SCOTUS decisions are great and Obama gets the credit for amazing appointments. I imagine McCain would have made great SCOTUS appointments too, however.
Okay, Obama, you can't take credit for same-sex marriage when all you did was appoint Justices. Biden forced your hand to announce your support for same-sex marriage. That wasn't of your own volition.
