I missed the first 20 minutes but from what I saw this little boy who drowned randomly appears back on earth 32 years later, at first they don't believe he's really the boy who drowned but they do a DNA test and all this other stuff and find out that he is at least related to them, and then at the end, this woman's (I think she was a case worker for the little boy) dad appears on earth too.
