well they are shounen who are aimed at boys and they are battle anime so its not that weird that there are not so many strong females characters...

speaking of which in all my faves i think the female characters are treated very well


One piece has many with Boa being my fave and she slays
D gray man has lenalee who's one of the best treated female main characters in a shounen
Besrserk has casca
Claymore is an all female characters
Code Geass has kallen and CC


If not u girls should be more worried on how female characters are being represented in shoujo....



And if u girs want to see girls kicking asses maybe u could try girl's of the wild its a manwha.. unfortunately the main character is ugly and pathetic...

Shonen manga has quite a few badass females. The problem is that the authors misuse/underutilise them. Tsunade, Konan, Yoruichi, Unohana, Robin, Hancock, Biscuit, Clare, basically everyone else in Claymore, Maka from Soul Eater, etc.

I agree with everything else aside from this part. Too many of Oda's female characters suffer from same face, especially compared to the plethora of varied and creative male designs.

Oda's artwork is dismissive but generally he seems to be quite a progressive writer (e.g. with the gay okama and stuff) so I wouldn't be surprised if he introduces more powerful female characters. I mean Big Mom is female and she is one of the strongest characters in the OP world and Hancock seems promising as well.

If anything, shounen mangakas (and some seinen, too) should stop with okamas.They do exist in real life, but it's the most flamboyant part of the LGBT community that only makes it hard for the rest to be taken seriously, and this wrong image is forced on boys from the early age.

Progressive in the sense that there's no omission of usually censored topics in mainstream manga like homosexuality/transsexualism. I know he exploits the stereotypes but name me one other main shounen that openly has characters like qween Ivankov

I'm pretty sure Trafalgar Law is gay as well considering he wasn't affected by the charms of Hancock and ha crew. Speaking of Hancock her crew are also bona fide lesbians.

Yes Shounen are aimed at boys that doesnt mean the female characters can't be strong though. Idk about Shoujo Don't watch it. Anyways D Gray Man is okay, Lenalee did slay Magi is good too Imo, Morgiana is a strong female main character Also where the story is getting one of the female characters is getting major character development for what Sinbad did to her

It would be better for the subject not to be included at all than to reinforce offensive stereotypes.

It's not like overt flamboyancy is hurting anyone. I can see how it could be seen as offensive but awareness is better then complete censorship into something that is actually a core part of the LGBT community.

Like I said there's Law and other probably gay characters in One Piece as well like the rumored Caitlyn Jenner of One Piece AKA Crocodile.
