Ok, she IS doing idol. Since this morning twitter was flooded with rumors and Nicki was tweeting during that whole time. She badged a tweet about it instead of shutting it down the same way she does everything else.
Moving forward, she pushed her tour back so that she can start in November, why? To do Idol auditions in September/October. After that she does the international Fall tour, (November) once the actual live shows begin next year she'll be doing US dates. Which she'll obviously have to travel between days of Idol, and arenas.
While she is on tour November-Jan she will release the remaining videos/singles off PFRR
release the new music in November to hold us over. American Idol will roll into Era #3. Which she will use the show to promote the single(s) (This is what's going on with Mariah right now, she will be premiering new music from her album.)
It all makes sense.

When does the idol air the taped shows? and for how long?
She could do the bulk of her shows then and do 2 shows a week and fly back to Idol the day before and day of 2 days idol 3-4 days doing 1-2 show.
