Ok Hive, with all prejudice aside, do you guys think Bey CO-writes all of her songs? I'm sure she did in her DC days and maybe upto B'Day but after I'm not too sure...
I think she co-wrote alot on 4. Some of the lyrics sound like stuff she would say, particularly on songs like Lay Up Under Me, Countdown, Dance for You. 4 definitely was like the sequel to Dangerously in Love album. It was the continuation of her chronicling of her relationship with Jay. She referenced ''all that gossip in 10 years stop it'' and ''10 years together still feels like the first time'' and alot of other stuff to Jay lyrically. Countdown was like an update of Crazy in Love. All it needed was a hot Jay verse on the track. Schoolin Life was also very particular to Bey's life. If I had to guess, I'd say she did the least writing on I am album. It seems the most impersonal & soulless out of all the B albums
I know bey likes to have this "mystery" thing going on about what she's doing, but it's not 1989. These days, you can still be mysterious and be in the spotlight. I don't know if she or her team realizes this.
I think she needs younger people on her team to give her advice. Hiring Matthew was one of the best decisions she's made.

Her writing credits are definitely legit; if you listen to her demos vs. the final product, they pretty much always line up with her listed contribution to the finished product. Like for instance here is the Scared of Lonely demo -- in the credits, Bey is listed as final writer as she contributed the least lyrically behind Rodney Jerkins and associates. But, she makes significant changes to the vocal arrangements, adds background harmonies, changes lyrics here and there so she also has credits for production on the vocals.
vs.
And I do agree with everyone else that I think she wrote the least on I Am out of her other works. Bey's writing is typically simplistic and somewhat formulaic with a "sista girl" wink -- it's similar to Kandi Burruss' work which makes sense for her to have been influenced early on as they worked together on TWOTW so she picked up a lot and you can really hear that in her work on the Survivor album and on DiL, parts of Sasha Fierce and 4.
The only credit of Bey's that I found kind of confusing was Halo where she's credited above Ryan Tedder because there weren't that many lyrical changes, though the vocal arrangements were vastly different and the bridge was removed completely from the demo version. I'm not versed in music law so I'm not sure if it was just that she made enough changes to the song that she is considered to have contributed the most to the final product. IDK, but, what I do know is that it's legal and all of the same writers wouldn't be clamoring to work with her again and again if they felt like they were having their work misrepresented and credits stolen.
Rita Ora is obviously affiliated with Bey, what do you guys think about her.
I personally love her but she needs to revamp her entire style so the Rih comparisons can stop. Thats what happened with RiRi she completely changed her persona to beat the Beyonce comparisons.

This is getting ridiculous.Beyonce clearly has her contributions to her music.she wrote just about the whole survivor album. And the only case that came from that era was Rob's but hurt ass.and he still never said she didn't write it neither did he say he wrote it.that whole disagreement was about the guitar ****...

but what would you propose she does?
start tweeting? i don't think she should do that, personally.
i think she should update her site & tumblr a little more often, especially during this current drought but i don't understand what more you guys are asking for in terms of interaction on break..?

Her music is nothing like Rih's honestly. I love her and "ORA". Image wise though, I could see the comparisons (my 13 year old brother even said they looked similar ) but other than that, she's Rita not Rihanna.
