Hip Hop/Funk
Quote:
OutKast's mix of funk, soul, hip hop, interesting wordplay and substance make this one of the most thrilling albums of the 1990s. Andre 3000 his first verse on the album is better than anything any rapper has done in the last couple years. This album overall deals with struggles of living poor (Slump, SpottieOttieDopalicious) and overcoming the negative opinions of critics (Return of the G, Liberation) but instead of doing it in a basic "**** all them I'ma rob and steal" way, they make it interesting with their honesty and unique outlooks on life. An essential album, and I'd place it at #3 on my list if I could redo it.

Dance-pop/Teen pop
Quote:
In my honest opinion, Britney Spears only has 2 good albums, and this isn't one of them. The title track, while decent enough, is overrated to the heavens, and besides that song, Crazy, Soda Pop and Thinkin' About You, this album is full of generic 90s teen pop filler. However, one can't deny that it was this album that helped the solo female teen pop artist possible again. Christina Aguilera, Mandy Moore, and Jessica Simpson were made in her image (with very slight alterations) and Avril Lavigne and P!nk were created as Britney Spears foils. While I don't like this album, to deny its influence is to live in denial.
