So, is this era already over? Did she even crack 2 million copies in the US?

Um... she's going on tour within a month and rumour has it she's going to do a performance somewhere before it. But with the (non-)success of this album (and its singles) it's hard to crack 2 million in the first place, so no. I think she's around 1,1M at the moment, which is OK and the tour should keep it all up a bit. In the end, she'll definetely crack that 2 million mark though.

Wow, barely 1 million? Considering all the comeback hype and the Superbowl promo I expected her to slay. Shocking.

THE VOICE BOSSES LINE UP MADONNA PERFORMANCE
BOSSES at the Beeb are aiming for record ratings by lining up Madonna for a guest performance.
They believe the queen of pop will give the hit show its biggest audience to date.
And they want Madonna, 53, to perform during a Sunday night results show.
A source said: “Getting Madge on to sing is bound to pull in the viewers.
“You don’t get much bigger than her – she’s a living legend.
“The show has regularly been getting ratings of over ten million.
“Having Madonna, plus the all-important results, could push it past the 12million mark.”
Securing the pop icon for an appearance would be the biggest coup in TV talent show history, according to insiders.
One said last night: “X Factor’s finest hour was getting Britney Spears on – but there’s no doubt Madonna is a much bigger name.
“Simon Cowell will be furious if The Voice upstages him with a massive guest performer like Madonna in its first series.”
Video Games singer Lana Del Rey, 25, will perform on tonight’s results show and BRIT award winner Emeli Sandé, 24, is due to sing next weekend.

No need to behave this arrogantly. Get your spelling (''m.d.n.a.'' ?) and grammar together first. It is understandable that someone would expect more from ''MDNA'''s sales after the Superbowl, because Madonna was back in the spotlight again and the general public got more interest in her.

Uhm that was like two months before the album, and performing once is not "promotion" IMO. If the Super Bowl were a week before album release, I'd consider it actual promotion, but it was so long ago that I doubt it had THAT much to do with any album sales at all. Also, please tell me how middle aged football fans are Madonna's demographic? If anything if someone wanted something of Madonna's they would've purchased Celebration since it's sales had risen. The only people who would've watched for Madonna were fans who would've bought the album anyways, or people just watching the halftime show because they were watching the game anyways. Also, I wouldn't consider a Facebook chat, and Twitter chat to be promotion either. Only fans would've known those were happening, and only fans would be the ones watching it or asking her questions. It's not television interviews, and it's definitely not a promo tour where she would be exposed to many different people, other than fans.. So, no, she did zero true promo for this album, IMO. Also, the Super Bowl didn't mention her new album even once. I know you're a Madonna fan, just explaining my opinion on the Super Bowl, and the lack of promo for this album.

...But hon, the Superbowl was almost *2 months* ahead of the album's release. M did barely any promo after that, and it's not like Give Me All Your Luvin' ever caught fire to begin with. This album's "sales failure" (which I don't agree with to begin with) is not due to lack of public interest, but lack to public awareness. People aren't going to think of Madonna's Superbowl performance 2 months later and go "Wow, I wonder if she has an album out." There needs to be decent promotion, which there wasn't. Unless you count her perfume. Which doesn't count.

do you know what's arrogant? this:

in fact, english isn't my first language but i guess you've understood my point anyway.
the super bowl performance promoted the artist herself, and the songs performed at the event, but not the album. there was no advertisement for the album whatsoever during the broadcast.
in fact, the regular american who watched the super bowl did not find out that madonna was about to release a new album through the event or any super bowl / nfl related press. MDNA was not promoted during the event at all.
please be kind.

It's been out one month and you expected 2 million? And all of your pessimistic comments prior to the leak/release make me think you didn't really believe it would "slay", so stop it.
