Exactly.
I think Gaga knows that she's made her impact as the shock tactic, costume wearing phenomenon, and now it's time for something different.
She can still wear eccentric couture and be theatrical, but perhaps not try so hard to shock for the sake of shocking and focus on being creative and entertaining with performances alone. I loved the stunts, but I think the time for that has passed. The last thing she'll want is to be predictable and have people eye rolling as she tries to make yet another statement on the red carpet. Less is more.
I like that she's breaking her own rules and transitioning into a more "real" Lady Gaga. Going brunette is actually quite a big statement in that regard considering so many have trouble with the separation of Gaga and Stefani - personified in the blonde hair eccentric vs. brunette normal girl. Here we see her still identifying as "Lady Gaga", but she's relatively normal and brunette...i.e. quite Stefani. It'll challenge perception about her more than a stunt will.
