I've never understood the appeal of thunderstorms. It's almost as if people don't truely understand how dangerous and how much damage they can cause.

Also, they are the reason tornados happen.

How on earth does the loud booming sounds of thunder, rain crashing on the window, and bright flashes of lightning help anyone sleep?

They're fascinating, if you're going to limit the appeal of something by how dangerous it is, we shouldn't like anything. Everything is potentially dangerous in one way or another. Hell, food can kill you by choking.

For the sleep part.

It's soothing because the sound of rain, plus as long as the thunder isn't loud as **** with lightning striking next door, it's not as bad as it sounds, and lightning doesn't really affect my sleeping because of curtains and I cover my eyes with the blanket.

I find them to be a giant pain in the ass. They happen with little to no warning, and being outside and getting caught in one ain't pleasant.

Also, it means having to go clean up my backyard after every single storm (we get 50+ each year here.) I've also seen my fare share of tornados over the years too.

Rain and thunderstorms have always been thought to be a bit soothing. That's why thousands of nature sound simulators have some type of storm recording for relaxation. I don't know about sleeping through no damn tornado, but I like sleeping through a some rain and a light thunderstorm. Those are the best lounge days.

I always am checking the weather and the skies. I used to want to be a pilot, so I know what to look for, but I love them, I remember I was at my best friends house in Ohio and a severe storm came up with no warning, we literally had to batten down the hatches in about 5 minutes, and that included tying things down, taking the flag down, etc etc, well let's just say, we had like 70 mile per hour winds, and heavy rain and when we were done, all of us were soaking wet.

Then we lost power for about 4 hours, so we played uno together until like 4am and then we got power back

Lightning heavy storms are my favorite.

I guess we all just have our prefences. Its not really my thing to be walking home from work, and suddenly be pelted by rain and hail.
