This certification is based on the total numbers of CDs sold to retailers - a Gold award is handed out by the RIAJ for 100,000 units sold.

after one week with 'mdna' i thought it was fading..but i was so wrong.

While a certain part of the US press keeps screaming that the sky is falling after the results of MDNA's second week in the Billboard chart - but the most interesting part was actually most of the worldwide press reprising the news without even being able to get their information straight, and confusing a bitter blogger with the official voice of a top financial outlet - Madonna's new album continues an amazing performance in the album charts all over the world, with Gold and Platinum certifications, and often keeping a solid spot in the Top Five.
In both Italy and Greece MDNA is down to number #2 after entering the chart at #1 last week.
In Finland the new album goes actually up one place in its third week in the chart. After entering in the top place and falling at #3 last week, MDNA is up to #2.
In Hungary, after being #1 for 2 weeks, MDNA goes down to #4 but it's still in the Top 5.
In Argentina the Deluxe Version of MDNA is down from #1 to #4 this week, and the standard edition is at #6 from #5. If both versions were combined, MDNA would have the #1 album in Argentina for 2 weeks, a similar scenario to what has happened in South Korea.
In France, MDNA steps down from #2 to #6 in its second week in the Top Ten.
In Canada MDNA drops from #1 to #6.
In the latest update by Mediatraffic MDNA goes down to #3 from last week's #1 with estimates of 182,000 units.
Combined with last week's estimates, MDNA jumps over Bruce Springsteen in the best sellers globally for albums released in 2012 and its currently ranking at #2 with 922,000 copies.

MDNA steps down from #4 to #5 in Norway in it's third week. Debuted at #2. It's in the top 10 digital downloads + top 5 in CD's on our country's biggest recordstore as well!
