I still can't believe you're trivialising the severity of rape.

I like Lady Gaga. But I don't like this. But I do like the fact that she had the consciousness to never want to release it. And I feel sorry for her that it's getting leaked, because it's going to damage her brand.

I'm amused, and of course I don't want that to be the case given the dubiousness of the characters involved in the making of... whatever it is this is, but yeah, I'd love to see the whole thing.

And maybe Gaga could have benefitted from the inevitable controversy? That is perhaps a tasteless thought, but even I don't enjoy watching Gaga wallow in obscurity, and I'm not a particularly big fan.

I must say that i really liked the video, but after reading your comments, i started adding 1+1. I didnt get the message behind the video being about Rape until you mentioned it. I went from liking the video to feeling outraged in just a moment

I'm not really sure what to think about the rape stuff, tbh. I feel like if R Kelly and Terry were not involved in this video, but everything else was the same, it wouldn't seem like that so much. There have been implications or depictions of rape, sex trafficking, murder, and more in Gaga's previous videos without any major issues. What's interesting is how those were just condemned by your typical conservatives. Now it's the more liberal side against her (the "social justice" type), which was largely the audience she originally appealed to.

Of course using Kelly and Richardson for that questionability was probably Gaga's intent, until she realized how over the top it was. Lame on her part, but I'm glad she had the sense to (try to) scrap it in the end.

Can't make any final judgements until I see the full thing, though. Right now my impression is that it's supposed to be a bad ****o, so perhaps it comes across less creepily in its entirety. There's also a difference between depicting and promoting/glamorizing, and without seeing the full video, no one can conclude which she was attempting.

No one wants to get into it with you because you keep saying the video promotes rape when they obviously think it doesn't. You want us to try to curb our opinion into yours but refuse to believe maybe the video isn't actually condoning rape. I don't think anyone here is condoning rape, they're just tired of you constantly saying "Lady gaga condones rape and she is shameless and its disgusting!!1111!" in every page of this thread.
