Pretty Little Liars’ Gregg Sulkin on Wesley’s “Friction” With Ezria, Season 4, and More - Exclusive!
Almost everyone in Rosewood is a suspect, especially after the Pretty Little Liars Season 3 Halloween episode (Season 3, Episode 13: “This Is a Dark Ride”). But we have to say that we missed seeing one of our favorite new characters, Ezra’s (Ian Harding) little brother Wesley Fitzgerald (played by the British actor Gregg Sulkin), who may become an ally or an enemy of Aria’s (Lucy Hale) when Season 3 returns on January 8.
In an exclusive interview with Wetpaint Entertainment, Gregg revealed more about Wesley’s childhood and leftover attitude from growing up in the privileged Fitzgerald household, whether or not Wesley will have his own love interest, and if we should expect to see him in Season 4.
Wetpaint Entertainment: We know Wesley is coming back for the Season 3 winter season. Will we learn anything more about Ezra and Wesley’s relationship?
Gregg Sulkin: Yeah, that’s something that they really pinpoint. You know, in the first two episodes [he appeared in], you can’t really get where he’s coming from. He’s a very mysterious character. He’s a kid with a chip on his shoulder from a highly dysfunctional family. Ezra has a lot going on with his mum, and as my character comes more on the show you see why he is the way that he is, what’s happened to him in the past, why does he have this relationship with his mum, why does he have this kind of weird relationship with his brother. You’ll see, it’s gonna get a lot deeper and a lot more interesting.
Do you think of Wesley as a good guy or a bad guy right now?
Well I mean I can’t tell you that because I know — you know, he’s my character so I create everything... The whole point of that character is that the audience doesn’t know if he’s good or bad. You know, as the season progresses some of the good things he might do, people might think it’s bad and some of the bad things he does people might think, “Oh well he’s actually kind of a sweet person, did he mean for it to be bad?” It keeps the audience guessing, and the more and more episodes I’m in the audience can really make up their mind
You mentioned the more and more episodes you’re in. Will Wes be in the Season 3 finale?
[Laughs] I cannot tell you that.
You can’t tell me?
No. That hasn’t been shot yet.
It looks like Wesley might be attracted to Aria. Do you think he is?
Um, I think of course from the first episode Wesley makes a joke in his first line: “Dude, I need to be introduced to this girl.” So I think from the outside, I think Wesley is going to be attracted to Aria. She’s a beautiful girl. So as they get to know each other, it’s gonna be a matter of whether they like each other from the inside or whether they really dislike each other from the inside. And also what happens between them is in parallel to what happens between Ezra and Aria, too. Wesley comes in, he spills a big secret which kind of puts everything on edge, so Wesley and Aria’s relationship is awesome but it’s kind of interesting because it’s good in a weird way.
So they work together in the future?
Yeah. The one bad thing about being on the show is that you can’t say anything, it’s so secretive.
We’ve heard through spoilers that Ezra and Wesley’s dad might be introduced soon. Can you tease anything about Wesley’s relationship with his father?
That, honestly, I don’t know. That hasn’t come up in any of my episodes. Ian, who obviously plays Ezra, would be the person to ask. He knows more about the family dynamics and all that stuff, I mean he’s been on the show since the start.
Who are you closest to on the set?
Well I mean most of my scenes are with Lucy. It’s weird because the show has so many different storylines that you kind of bump into people here and there, but obviously I’m working with Lucy the whole time, who’s the biggest sweetheart ever, and I couldn’t have asked for a more sweet and outgoing, professional girl. She’s honestly been awesome since I came on the show. I have so much respect for her as a person and as an actress. So Lucy, then Tyler Blackburn [Caleb Rivers] I get along with.
You were just at an event together, I believe?
Yeah, yeah, me and Tyler. We actually went to dinner like last week with a couple friends. He’s a really cool kid, very laid-back, very chill. Then Janel Parrish [Mona Vanderwall], who’s such a nice girl. Her best friend is one of my closest friends. So yeah, I think those three in particular, and of course Ian, you know? He doesn’t count as my friend ‘cause he’s my brother, but I like Ian a lot. He’s very open but very...I think welcoming, easy to talk to. I think all those guys, not just the crew. All those other guys as well, I don’t really know them and they seem polite. But you know, the show runners and the crew. Like it’s really weird, people sometimes forget about the crew because the crew are as important as the actors, in my opinion.
Would you say that Wes could have a love interest coming up?
He could, he could or he... He could.
That’s all you’ll say?
All I was saying is Wesley’s a very — in my opinion — nice... Actually, would I say nice? Maybe not. He’s charismatic, that is the word, so love interest is possible.
Okay. You sound like you’re smiling.
Yeah I’ve got a big grin on my face.
Is there a possibility that Wes in on the “A” team or working with “A”?
Anything’s possible.
Would you like to be on the “A” team?
Yeah, why not? Let’s spice it up a bit. Might as well go wild.
Will Wesley be in Season 4?
I can be honest with you, I don’t know. I did my first episode and they liked me, and they did my second and the fans really responded to my character, so I think it is all depending on whether the fans and the drama that I bring to the show is good drama or bad drama. So I think there’s a lot of kind of things depending on it. My fans are at the age demographic where they watch the show so I wouldn’t be surprised if I was in Season 4. But if I’m not it’s been awesome, every second of it, and even to be part of that PLL show is awesome, was awesome…but I have a feeling that I’d be surprised if I wasn’t.
In terms of Ezria, I’m sure you realize how passionate their fans are.
Yeah the hate mail’s already been delivered.
How does it feel playing the character who might get in the middle of Aria and Ezra?
It feels absolutely fantastic, I love it. I love it, are you kidding me? It’s absolutely great. I get to cause drama, I get to cause some people happy, some people are sad, it’s not like I’m hated. My character’s been very honest, it’s not like I’ve killed anyone yet. It’s not like I’ve done anything terrible for someone to judge me…I’ve been put into a situation which has caused a little bit more friction to the situation and there’s nothing wrong with friction, that makes good TV, I think.

'Pretty Little Liars' star Shay Mitchell talks Halloween episode, deaths and Toby
Watching the "Pretty Little Liars" Halloween special was just as intense for star Shay Mitchell and her fellow Liars as it was for the audience at home. [Warning: Spoilers ahead!]
"The Halloween episode was very intense and I watched it last night with everybody again," Mitchell tells Zap2it on the "PLL" set the morning after the fateful episode. Between A being on the train and Garrett dying, there was plenty of awful drama. Plus, finding another dead body is kind of a bummer. "No one likes to have that happen at a party," Mitchell jokes.
When the show returns for the second half of Season 3 on January 8, 2013, "The girls are going to have to just jump back from this as well, just as the did with the midseason finale," Mitchell says. It'll be harder for one of them, though. "One of the girls is really going to hit her breaking point," Mitchell teases, though she won't reveal which one.
Plenty of action will be dedicated to figuring out what kind of involvement Toby has in the A team -- is he truly bad, or is he protecting Spencer? Even Mitchell doesn't know. "He plays that character very well, because even I'm like, 'Is he good? is he bad?' It will be very interesting if Spencer ever does find out."
Check out more of what Mitchell had to say about the recent revelations on "PLL," including what a pleasure it was to work with Adam Lambert and her dream musical guest stars. (Do you think Beyonce would ever find herself in Rosewood?)
Laura Leighton: Ashley Marin's Secrets Cause Trouble on Pretty Little Liars Season 3 — Exclusive
After the revelation on Season 3, Episode 13: “This Is a Dark Ride” that Byron Montgomery (Chad Lowe) might know something about Alison's (Sasha Pieterse) death, we're more interested in the Pretty Little Liars parents than ever.
Fortunately, we recently had a chance to chat with Laura Leighton (Ashley Marin), who dropped some hints about what we can expect for her character on the Season 3 winter season.
Wetpaint Entertainment: How’s your dating life going on PLL? All well?
Laura Leighton: It is. It's hard for me to remember what you've seen up until now. We're almost done with the second half of season three. So it's really hard to keep track of where we left off with the audience.
Does [her relations with Paston Ted] become a full‑blown relationship?
It does become a full‑blown relationship, but it's a little complicated. It's messy for her. Ashley has secrets, and she's hoping to keep them from this lovely man that she doesn't want to lose. But it's definitely complicated. Things keep coming back to haunt her.
How much of that is actually Hanna's troubles coming between them, the fact that she's kind of juggling her daughter's secrets as well?
I'm definitely juggling Hanna's problems with my past, and our whole thing that we did with the detective and trying to cover up the shoplifting. Definitely that's something to hide from Pastor Ted.
Didn't you also embezzle on the show?
I did. I stole a little bit of money and put it in the freezer for a while. Yeah, but that's been a little while ago. That's just a little bit of money. [Laughs]
Is she catching on to the fact that there's this horrible person after her daughter?
I think Ashley knows there's somebody or more than one person sort of causing problems and targeting the girls, and it's definitely in Ashley's nature to be concerned and to want to try and solve all those problems. So she tries to get involved.
At least you didn't kick the bucket on a train.
I didn't get to go on the train. That's how I kept myself safe.
Ask Ausiello: TV|Line Spoilers on Pretty Little Liars!
Remember when Pretty Littler Liars EP Oliver Goldstick told us that Lucas might crack in the new season? Well, it sounds like Madhouse Mona could be the trigger.
According to Lucas’ portrayer, Brendan Robinson, the bonkers brunette’s return to Rosewood High will impact “everybody involved with this whole situation, including Lucas.” In fact, “We’re going to learn a little bit more about Lucas’ relationship with Mona,” he teases, before adding that Lucas will make “some kind of confession. But I can’t say to who, or how or what it involves.”
‘Pretty Little Liars’ Scoop: Did Lucas Help ‘A’ Kidnap Aria?
Brendan Robinson sheds new light on the Halloween drama & gives HollywoodLife.com a taste of the ‘crAziness’ to come!
Pretty Little Liars returns with all-new episodes Jan. 8, and it won’t take long for viewers to get some answers about who tried to kill Aria (Lucy Hale) on the Halloween special. “We’re going to discover a little more about what happened,” Brendan Robinson told HollywoodLife.com on Nov. 12 at TV Guide‘s Hot List Party in Los Angeles.
But was Lucas the mysterious accomplice who tried to push Aria-in-a-box off the “A” train?
“So many people think that,” he admitted. “I can’t give away too many details, but Lucas is in the mix.”
Brendan also promised we can “immediately” expect to see “craziness from Lucas.”
Keegan Allen: The Pretty Little Liars Season 3B Finale Will "Shock Everyone in the World"
The filming of Pretty Little Liars Season 3 is coming to the end, and you know what that means — the cast now knows a ton of new secrets.
We recently had a chance to chat with none other than the most surprising new villain on the show, Keegan Allen (Toby Cavanaugh), at the TV Guide Magazine Hot List party. While he kept pretty tight-lipped about what's coming up, Keegan did spill on what it's like to play a bad guy, whether he thinks there's hope for Toby/Spencer (Troian Bellisario), and what we can expect from the 3B finale.
Wetpaint Entertainment: What’s been the best part of playing bad guy?
Keegan Allen: The best part about playing the bad guy for me is I get to play a role I normally don't play in real life. So everybody likes to be able to feel bad — without the consequences. This is really bad, so that's good.
You like playing the bad guy.
Yeah, I've enjoyed it. I've had the privilege of playing both the good and bad guy now. He started out as a good guy and now he's bad.
Ever miss playing sweet version of Toby?
I mean it's a hard question to answer because it's still kind of gray because the characters on the show don't know he's a bad guy yet. So he gets to play both sides. I get to play that middle ground, still.
Personally, do you think Spencer/Toby could survive?
Personally, I like to believe anything is possible.
Will the 3B finale be just as shocking as the 3A finale?
Yes, we're filming it currently, and it's shocking. Even reading the script, unbelievable, I can't wait to see how it plays out. You get so much closure, yet it brings a whole slew of new questions and crazy stuff.
What can you tease about the finale?
I can tell you it's going to shock everyone in the world.
Will we narrow down suspect list in 3B?
It's already narrowed down. I'm "A"!

‘Pretty Little Liars’ Star Sasha Pieterse on Allison’s Unknown Relationships: ‘The Stuff That She’s Hiding Is Amazing’
The dearly departed Allison (Sasha Pieterse) on ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars had a lot of secrets when she died and it appears that some of these secrets will be spilled when the second half of Season 3 premieres in January.
“The stuff that she’s hiding is amazing,” Pieterse told Celebuzz at TV Guide Magazine’s Hot List party. “There are so many big surprises. One in particular that I think will shock everyone — we can’t say anything, it’s so hard for us to say anything about anything — but there’s a lot of relationships that she’s had with people that no one knew about or would ever expect. So, it’s very interesting.”
Vague, but intriguing is the name of the game when it comes to the stars of PLL teasing what’s to come on the future episodes. But when we last saw Pieterse’s character in the show’s Halloween episode, it was revealed that she had some kind of history with Byron Montgomery (Chad Lowe), Aria’s (Lucy Hale) dad. Crazy!
Prior to that episode, the 16-year-old had divulged to us that we’d be seeing a lot more of Ali on the next 13 episodes. As for the reveal of Toby (Keegan Allen) as “A” to the characters on the show, she said, “There’s a lot of conspiracy theories going on if he’s really on the A team or not.”
She continued, “There are possibly a lot of ‘As.’ Some we don’t know. We don’t know if there’s a ruler or not. There’s a lot of mysteries going on.”
“The second part of our season, which premieres Jan. 8, is going to be packed with surprises,” she revealed. “We’re just filming the season finale right now and it’s just insane what’s going on. So we’re very excited to see what the fans think.”
Pretty Little Liars returns Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 8 PM on ABC Family.
Pretty Little Liars’ Lucy Hale: “You Will See a Lot of Byron and Alison” in Season 3B
Lucy Hale (Aria) doesn’t only play a good girl on Pretty Little Liars, but she’s an incredibly nice one in real life. We caught up with Lucy during her appearance at Duracell’s Power Holiday Smiles event at P.S. 64 in New York City on November 20, where she presented over 100 public school children with brand new toys sponsored by Toys For Tots.
In an exclusive interview with Wetpaint Entertainment, Lucy shared some major spoilers for Season 3B, including what’s really going on in that scene with Aria and Alison (Sasha Pieterse) from the previews, what to expect from Byron (Chad Lowe) in the first few episodes, and whether or not Alison is a villain or a victim.
Wetpaint Entertainment: What inspired you to get involved with Duracell’s Power Holiday Smiles campaign? Lucy Hale: I think everyone at some point in their life is searching for some way to give back. I’ve been so blessed with so much and I’ve been given a lot of opportunities, and this one just really spoke to me and I absolutely had to be a part of it. I was lucky enough to have a great holiday season and to be given gifts when I was growing up, and I know that a lot of people aren’t financially put in that position. I think, as a kid, there’s nothing worse than having to wake up with nothing to show for it, so I wanted to just be a voice for this, and inspire a lot of people to get involved. Basically it’s a sweepstakes, and it’s really easy, it’s really simple. It’s not like you have to really go out of your way to do it. You sign on to their Facebook page, which is facebook.com/Duracell, and you enter the sweepstakes, and for every entry, they donate a battery to Toys For Tots to power up the toys that you saw today to give to the kids. Also, Thanksgiving to December 20, every hour of every day they’re giving away one of those toys to someone, and I can’t do the math in my head, but that’s a lot of toys that they’re giving away. So you give a little, you take a little. For me that’s the most rewarding part, I couldn’t ask for anything greater than to see 150 kids that excited.
What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?
My dog [Jack], it has to be my dog, I’ve had him for three years, and it was a gift from my manager, and this is so dramatic but he’s changed my life. My dog has changed my life. And it s so cheesy but my dog was there when I was going through a lot, and he’s my little companion. He’s my little buddy.
Now, what’s the worst gift you’ve ever received?
Oh man, what is the worst gift? I was dating a guy at the time and he’d gone out of the way to make my gift really personalized, and I had known that I was gonna break up with him so I gave him clothes that were really not personal, so that was really sad because he knew what was coming after that. Poor thing. Sorry!
In one of the PLL Season 3B previews, Aria gets a visit from Alison. Can you give some context for that scene?
There’s been a lot of exciting stuff for Aria lately. In the Halloween episode she went through that whole situation. I can’t remember what episode number it is, but Aria’s actually sick throughout the whole episode, so we don’t know if she’s dreaming or whatever’s going on. We don’t know if it’s real but she has an interaction with Alison, and it sort of reveals a lot. And the last thing that Alison says to Aria, I can’t tell you what it is, but sort of makes you go, “What!?” A little confusing. No, that was really fun because like you said, I had never had a one-on-one scene with her before.
Do you think of Alison as a villain or a victim?
I think of her as more of a victim. I think there’s a lot going on in her life that nobody knows about and I think maybe she was tormented in [the same] way that she tormented people. And that’s sort of a life lesson — people that are bullies, they’re going through their own situation. Yeah, I think she’s really misunderstood, and I think that will come to light. We’ll find out more about her.
Will we find out more about Alison and Byron’s relationship in the first few episodes?
Ohhh yeah, oh yes. You will see a lot of Byron and Alison and what his involvement was in it, and Aria finds out everything that’s been going on too. And it definitely puts a strain on the father/daughter relationship obviously, and you find out the truth about what happened, and that’s all I can say.
Catch the return of PLL Season 3 on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC Family.

One of the biggest surprises from the Halloween special was Byron’s secret connection to Alison, and Lucy Hale says the surprises are just beginning. “In the remainder of the season, that’s one of the bigger issues that we deal with,” she told me Nov. 20 at the kick-off event for Duracell and Toys for Tots’ Power Holiday Smiles program. “Aria finds out, and the rest of the girls find out, but we don’t know if there’s truth to it. It puts a huge strain on Aria and Byron, but you do come to find out what actually happened.”

Guard: "Cavanaugh, you have a visitor."
Alison: "Nice digs. That's a nasty-looking cut. Were you in some kind of brawl?"
Toby: "At least the people here fight fair. What is that?"
Alison: "You know exactly what it is. And it's time to stop the Pen-Pal routine."
Toby: "What?"
Alison: "Clearly your time in Cellblock 4 has done great things for your literary skills, but you need to stop."
Toby: "I didn't write these."
Alison: "I drove all the way out here and just got a Triple X patdown at Security. You could at least save me the trouble of being lied to."
Toby: "My mail has to go through the detention center. I could never send those."
Alison: "I’m sure there’s ways around that."
Toby: "Why’re you so convinced it’s me? Jenna would be pretty happy to see your head on a stick."
Alison: "Jenna would be pretty happy to see anything, I imagine. Your step-sis was getting surgery when some of these were sent. Wanna know how it turned out? She’s still combing her hair with an electric toothbrush."
Toby: "You can leave now."
Alison: "Not without an answer."
Toby: "Wish I knew who it was. I’d offer my services. You and your posse deserve a lot worse."
Alison: "I bet you wish you’d kissed me when you had the chance."

TVOverMind.com has four teasers to share with you:
Quote:
1. Mona is back and she’s not welcomed with open arms - Mona has been released from the sanitarium and returns to Rosewood High, but Hanna and the other girls are understandably hesitant to welcome Mona back into the fold.
2. Suspicions against Lucas have resurfaced - Hanna is convinced that he was stabbed by Aria on the Halloween train.
3. Byron’s motives should be questioned - Aria spends most of the episode defending her father, but there’s a moment where Aria decides to question him and his response will definitely pique your interest.
4. Knowing the truth about Toby will leave viewers creeped out - everything he does seems especially suspicious.
