That 'Sooner than you think' answer both Bonnie and Luke have given recently is really making me feel like we're going to get an announcement in the next 2 or 3 weeks and the song by early-September, at the very, very latest. surely they know we expect something to come out in time for a Grammy Nomination...? Even if Katy could premiere at #1 in the US if she and Gaga both released during VMAs week, Gaga would school her internationally.

I never really paid that much attention to Katy at first, I knew IKAG and HnC but never saw any interviews or knew anything about her personality, or listened to any of OOTB. But my friend introduced me to If You Can Afford Me and I decided to give the album a try and it was incredible

Then I fell in love with her personality and her image and everything, and I was a big fan by the time California Gurls came out. Then Teenage Dream (the song) came out and sealed the deal and I officially started stanning. The rest is history

Here's my story

I used to listen to pop music when I was super young 7-10, I'd listen to nsync, Britney, backstreet boys. Then around 11-14 I hated pop music. It was my emo faze I guess. All I listen to was rock/metal/screamo/ hardcore ****. Then summer of 0'8 came, it was the summer before entering my freshman year of high school, n my sister kept play this song on her myspace page. I thought it was so catchy. So one day I turned on Mtv's trl and waited for a bit. I was 14, a girl singing about kissing another was like it for me, it was my guilty pleasure! That song introduced me back into pop music, I stopped hating pop, not just pop but I grew into way more genres of music because of that song. I even learned guitar. When I graduated high school four years later, wide awake was The las song from her. Her whole mainstream career during my high school life was pretty epic.

I feel like new material is coming in the next month. Everyone keeps telling us it's coming sooner than we think. Katy said Bonnie will be her competition, so I could take that as Katy meaning "American Girl" might coincide with Katy's lead single, but she could just be talking in general. We've also received a lot of clues in terms of who's she's working with. We have a solid idea right now, and we even have one or two (?) song titles.

Also, she has numerous big opportunities lining up.
Smurfs, Perfume, VMAs. I don't think she'll debut her single at the VMAs (which are 8/25), but rather release it earlier to build hype and let the song grow a little bit. It'll still have an amazing debut (after all, it's her lead single) but Katy's singles always do better when they're allowed to grow and reach their peak later (see Part of Me). Besides, she'll have way too much competition from Gaga and Beyonce (if they are releasing and it sounds like they are) to debut at the VMAs.

Beyonce is in the middle of a world tour right now. I really don't think she will release soon. Even if she does, let's be real she isn't much of a threat.

Gaga is such a toss up right now. Her and her team have been teasing for awhile now but nothing official yet.
