Originally she said it started with a 'B' but I think that was just her trolling. That was only like a week before PnP was released, and she was already shooting the vid by then.
I think Nicki just has a special connection to the song. She was probably in a very reflective state when she wrote and recorded it, so she decided to take the chance and release it as the lead single. Even if it has peaked, I think it's fulfilled it's purpose. It's not a Massive Attack sized flop by any means. MA didn't even chart I believe. PnP will at least be Top 40. It's performing modestly.
It's still a mystery what she plans next.
