I think it'll cause some huge changes in the Top 10. Once Glee pushes all the current songs out, I don't see songs like "Coming Home", "Rocketeer", or "Hey Baby" coming back. "What The Hell", "Hold It Against Me" and "S&M" will probably replace them.

I sure hope so. It seems like the Top 10 has been moving SO slowly the past few months. Same boring ass generic songs. The charts could use a little Mariah, Beyonce, new Usher, Breezy, and some more talented artists. Not these cheesy ass untalented one-hit wonders.

Unfortunately now a days the mediocre and generic artists that get the most attention. The industry is more about image and marketing than it is about the actual talent. It's quite sad.

People have been saying the same damn thing for the last 30 years. It really all depends on your perspective: when you started paying attention to popular music, your idea of what constitutes talent, etc.

Maybe, but I think recently (within the last 10 years or so) more than ever it has become way more prevalent. Especially with the rise of the internet, social networking and all of that. It's definitely changed the importance of marketing. Technology changes everything and I think image and public persona (the way you look, the way your team promotes you in the general public, twitter followers and all of that) now, more so than ever is the important factor now and has kind of masked the importance of the artistry itself. Everything is way more accessible now, and how popular you are on the blogs, paparazzi and etc is what really keeps you relevant as opposed to say 1990, when the music was really the sole thing we had to judge artists on. Now a days people get famous off of **** like youtube and stuff that wasn't around before, because they have a big following not necessarily because they're good at what they do. My point is, it's more about popularity and how the public relates to you than it is about talent or how well you can sing.

I'm having trouble wording this exactly how I want to but do you get what I'm saying?
