I still don't understand how these are bad numbers not superb but it's definitely not something to laugh at.
Only on ATRL will improving with your sales number be seen as a bad thing. Katy improved from OOTB to TD, and now she's improved even more with Prism. Yet people will drag her and call her a flop, even though other girls are constantly decreasing with each release.
Not to mention TD was released during the dog days of August and didn't have Walmart TV commercials. She'll keep selling well but there's no denying it: after the hugeness of the TD era, this is a disappointing opening.
I'm more interested in her WW numbers. Coming off of a gargantuan era that had MULTIPLE WW hit singles, the numbers for her current album should be impressive, no?

29k is good for their first EP. I don't think there was that much promo for it? And I don't think Miss Movin' On is doing anything spectacular on radio right now. These are good numbers for Fifth Harmony.
Anytime between now and 11AM tomorrow, Billboard will release the official Soundscan #s. The HDD numbers usually aren't that far off.

Oh I know there really won't be much of a difference in the real numbers, but since the OP is making a big deal out of 3k with the "doesn't match predictions" and "almost matches predictions" thread titles...
People mentioning Rihanna: she's never made a TV deal with a major retailer like Target or Walmart. Those deals and the commercials they put on hot rotation on TV are the best way to sell albums. Remember when P!nk didn't attend the Grammys but that week she still outsold Rihanna who performed twice b/c Target played her commercial during the show?
Is there a chance she will hold on to no. 1 next week? I don't see any big competition this week. Gaga, Eminem, 1D and Bieber are releasing at a later date.
