What are you talking about? Compared to any other year we are ahead by about $150 million. We are at about $650 million and no other year in the past 5 years is over $500 million yet, at the same point in time. We've only had two weekends for movies to do business and not to mention, that this weekend is going to be the biggest MLK weekend on record. Do I need to mention that this weekend is at $170 million and not one weekend in 2008 was over that until June ...

Yeah because we've only had two weekends in 2009 ... let's not forget that the first movie to hit $100 million in 2008 was Horton Hears a Who and that was in March ... on March 28th it crossed the $100 million mark, so I would say that this year is doing quite fine.

I'm sure that it was suppose to be $100 million and not $100k.

yah, well in that case, it's still a very stupid statement to amke, January has only released two movies which crossed the 100 million dollar mark and those were movies with either an ardent fanbase (Star Wars) or one with mass appeal (Black hawk dawn)

Oh really. Thanks for the info. I didn't know that. I thought at least one good romantic comedy would be able to do it, and yeah I mean $100 million. My bad... JerseyBoy shut up, please.

Seriously? At least I don't expect a 100 million dollar making film within the first weeks of a new year. You should do some research before making some blatant statements. I was only being reasonable. So

I jsut hope tha tthe revenue doesn't stoop lower than 2008. With the economy crashing and piracy, it's a shocker the 2009 is doing so well.

I think the reason why the box office is doing so well, is because going to the movies is the cheapest form of legal entertainment

I was expecting Bloody Valentine to take the top spot. Mall Cop looks hilarious, but I didn't expect it to be number one.
