Music executives disagree with you, mathematics disagrees with you, etc. You can cling to your personal attacks, but until you can prove your math flawlessly and state that 1989 surely would've sold 15M copies had it been released in 2000 (hint: you can't, but good luck with your hypothetical), then please stick to the industry-endorsed, mathematically sound methods of measuring album consumption like album equivalents.

Maybe you should ask Billboard, RIAA or anyone else who uses it if it makes sense to compare equivalent units from today to sales from 2000. I'm 100% sure that they would say: no it absolutely makes no sense.

Britney is the only female survivor of the teen pop machine and the singers who were selling BIG in the late 90s/early 00s were AC/Pop, rock and alternative (Celine, Dido, Avril and Norah). She was an anomaly for her generation.

 Best-selling albums released in 1999:

2 - 11.75M - SUPERNATURAL - SANTANA
3 - 11.66M - HUMAN CLAY - CREED
N/A Britney

Best-selling albums released in 2000:
1 - 12.29M - 1 - BEATLES

2 - 6.32M - SONGS IN A MINOR - ALICIA KEYS
3 - 5.7M - SILVER SIDE UP - NICKELBACK
N/A Britney

Now let's look at the years of Taylor's albums:

Best-selling albums released in 2006
1 - 5.53M - TAYLOR SWIFT - TAYLOR SWIFT
2 - 5.03M - DAUGHTRY - DAUGHTRY
3 - 5.00M - ME AND MY GANG - RASCAL FLATTS

Best-selling albums released in 2008
1 - 6.96M - FEARLESS - TAYLOR SWIFT

2 - 2,094,000 - SAM SMITH - IN THE LONELY HOUR
3 - 1,805,000 - ED SHEERAN - X
As you can see, Britney's albums were a massive non-factor compared to other albums of her time, while Taylor's are constantly the biggest releases of their time
The only reason Britney's sales look impressive is because we compare them to current albums

Show us the times where they have compared albums from 2001 to 2015 and such in equivalents? RIAA, Billboard, IFPI, and everyone in the industry doesn't compare bigger eras from different times by sales / equivalents because everyone knows the industry has changed.

But continue to compare 1999 sales to 2014 sales so you can keep this mindset Britney is the biggest pop star in history while everyone else doesn't entertain it.

But Britney sold 10M in 2000 and nobody is selling 10M today so she must be the biggest Pop girl ever.

There's nothing "non-factor" about going Diamond which both of those albums have done. The relentless attempts to try and make her peak seem small.

Taylor has had more chart success.
Britney is the bigger celebrity though, and always will be.

By the way:

- In The Zone: 9 million
- My Prerogative: 7 million
- Blackout: 3 million
- Circus: 4 million
- The Singles Collection: 1 million
- Femme Fatale: 2 million
- Britney Jean: 675 k

More than 25 million albums of non-teen pop music sales is on par and or even better than most of the top popstars in here!

Avril’s latest album outsold B Jean and they were both released within a month of each other

And another thing Eternium maybe that will help you understand things better.

The formula 1 album sale = 1500 streams = 10 singles sold makes sense cause those 3 things generate roughly the same revenue. (Streams should be even more than 1500, but hopefully with free Spotify disappearing soon it will be more accurate).

The problem is that the overall revenue of the music industry today is so much lower than the revenue in 2000.

So essentially everybody who isn't the Army (as usual) has came to agreement. Taylor > Britney. Let's close this.

It says "released in year x" not "sold in year x". So for this table, no.

In sales for the year 2015 "1989" was #1 until Adele released, yes.

Do you think it's possible for Speak Now to eventually pass Recovery?

And Britney stays outgrossing PIGriah in Vegas (who hasn't had a top 10 hit or number 1 album in almost a decade, LOL).
