Pedro, if I make through this round, can you set the deadline for submitting the entries for round 2 for next Thursday? It's Carnival here, so I'll be travelling from tomorrow til Wednesday. I'll have my phone to check the results and everything, but I won't have time to elaborate a proper entry before I go back home.

I don't know how to feel about this game tbh.
A huge part of the entry is the writing and I'm really terrible at them.
I think I'm gonna drop out really early because I never format my entries and I hate writing those essays.

So sad to see Carly's album being wasted like this. At least, someone has the chance of giving it a proper run next season!

Choose The Album, Then a Song 8: VOTE [R1]
WELCOME TO THE EIGHTH SEASON OF
CHOOSE THE ALBUM, THEN A SONG
"It has been a while... I know I shouldn't have kept you waiting... But I am here now"
Alright! Time's up! Who sent the entry in time still is in the game, who did not is OUT. Of course I don't like being this strict but these type of delays about waiting for him, her or them is what takes the magic away. I allowed this to happen sometimes and we all know what happened.
With this being said our cast is now reduced to 24 contestants. The albums 'EMOTION' by Carly Rae Jepsen and 'Blue Neighborhood' by Troye Sivan were not used so it is like they didn't exist this season, you'll be able to use them whenever you want in the future. Now! You may have noticed two members asking to sign up after the signups were closed, right? Bey_Rihstan and Kyle. did ask for that and I did not say No. I asked them to send the entries in time and they'd be in but they didn't so they're out as well. Anyway! The 24 entries are in and I am more than ready to present you to them. This time around our contestants have to show the song that best represents the album as a whole. We will go there in a minute but first let's just remember some rules

For seven seasons this game had its ups and downs and to make sure the 'downs' part won't happen again, I had to create a set of rules. So if you're signing up, this means you agree to:
1. DURING THE VOTING PERIOD, YOU'LL HAVE TO CAST YOUR VOTE (OTHERWISE YOU'RE PENALIZED);
2. YOU CAN NOT ASK FANS/FRIENDS TO SAVE YOUR ALBUM;
3. YOU MUST DELIVER YOUR ENTRY IN TIME, OTHERWISE YOU'RE ELIMINATED.
4. YOU CAN NOT USE THE SAME SONG MORE THAN TWICE;
5. IF YOU USE A SONG IN A ROUND, YOU'LL ONLY BE ABLE TO USE IT AGAIN THREE ROUNDS AFTER.
Hello, it's Choose The Album, Then A Song 8! The first round is a great opportunity for introductions and getting acquainted. Using one song and no more than 200 words, explain how it represents your album.

1. prezli: Nothing but Thieves - 'Nothing but Thieves': 'Excuse Me'

Excuse Me is the opening track of Nothing but Thieves' self-titled debut album "Nothing but Thieves." I think it's a perfect introduction. I love how it begins; its soft instrumentation is so relaxable, but the whole song immediately explodes in the refrain.
At first listen, this song made me want to hear more from the album. Actually, "Excuse Me" perfectly describes the whole album. Melancholy ballads and uptempo songs can be found on it, and it's all in "Excuse Me."
Its lyrical content fits this duality very well; it is rebel but sad at the same time in an unusual way. He's about to break up with his girlfriend, but he can't because he needs help from someone - who is actually another lover of his: "Here comes someone else to share the air we breathe". In the bridge, he becomes cruel: "Our work here is done / We out".
If you like this song, I'm really sure you won't disappoint in the whole album.

The production is very "unexpected" by RIhanna and that was the exact thesis she tried to preach to us with this album to expect the unexpected. The song really pours out Rihanna's personal feelings to her audience lyrically and sonically alike most other songs on the album. Her adlibs in the song really show us that Rihanna hasn't been playing around in the vocal department and has may be one of her best songs EVER to showcase her personality. This low-tempo is very dream-like, much like the rest of ANTI that is almost like an endless hallucination. If I was to see if someone else would like this album I would for sure show this song first because it shows the edginess and new sound Rihanna is going for but at the same time not trying to polarize them from the album.

My other reason for picking this song to represent Art Angels is that the music video is the start of an act and Flesh Without Blood is Act I.

After years of experimenting with various styles of pop music, Ellie Goulding unleashed Delirium, featuring the British star's most mainstream songs yet. Defined as an experience of "wild excitement or ecstasy," the term delirium is a fantastic description of the record -- a musical manifestation of the crazy quest for happiness. Throughout the record, Goulding's desire to inspire listeners to dance is apparent. There are many aspects to this euphoric journey across the dancefloor, but the best starting point is pop gem, "Something In The Way You Move." Brimming with near-saccharine catchiness, this track is one of the most approachable on the album, and instantly hooks the listener into wanting more. The slick production and sing-along chorus have been designed perfectly for both radio and the clubs. "Move" also functions as an introduction to various themes explored throughout Delirium, including the experience of "wild" ecstasy in romantically "playing with fire." Goulding also emphasizes a "strange" feeling taking over her experiences -- a symptom of delirium, perhaps? Ultimately, "Move" is a great snapshot of the positive, upbeat feelings of the album, and is a simple but effective greeting from Goulding.
"...feeling this way for you."

"Overprotected" is the best reflection of this change and of the general tone of this album. Sonically, it's a great transition between the bubble gum pop sound of her first two albums, and moving into a more pop/r&b sound that's could cater to an older audience, while still holding onto that younger audience. Lyrically "Overprotected" speaks more to the overall theme of what Britney actually is. She saying that she's been too overprotected, and wants to really live her life the way she wants too and try new things. She doesn't totally abandon her old sound, but just progresses it to a new level. "Overprotected" is a great middle ground for the album, in that she has some more poppy songs as her previous albums, as well as more club ready songs that we will come to love from future Britney Spears.

Their creative side was put aside but the album ends up reflecting their biggest inspirations and was written keeping in mind their main target: teenage girls. With this being said, I feel like 'Reflection' - the song - is the best representation of it. Not only it is a Pop/R&B orientated track - which mirrors 5H's main inspirations like Beyoncé and mirrors the album feeling - but it also allows the girls to focus on the message they want their audience to listen to: "(...) Think I'm in love 'cause you're so sexy... Boy I ain't talking about you, I am talking to my own reflection". 'Reflection' is sexy, confident and fun which matches Fifth Harmony's image: a powerful girlgroup featuring five beautiful and sexy ladies who spread the word about girl power. This song is their 'reflection' and therefore the album's.

For starters, for those who do not listen to Jordin, she is not teeny pop bop around star anymore she was once known as. She is an adult and putting her toys away, she is channeling her R&B Princess side.
The track, Right Here Right Now, is a smooth upbeat sultry tune with an intro/outro that bring the hype. It is a nice transition song from her pop material to her R&B and urban jams on this album. In the song relating to how it represents the album is that this album had a hyped up intro (Work From Home) and ending (It Aint You). The first part of her album is made up with relationship-esque upbeat tracks. The second part is smooth heart tugging songs.
The song represents Jordin’s current lifestyle and music style and there was not a better choice on the album besides this song.

This song struck me as the perfect track for this first challenge, and not just because it's the title track! This track completely sets the sultry tone that the rest of the album follows and leaves you wanting more.
Please enjoy!

As the vocalists form one voice Kevin applies a futuristic hissing beat which Avi amplifies, transitioning to a steady bass line while Scott smoothly croons before shifting into his soprano register to synchronize with Mitch and Kristi. The pinnacle of the performance is a mesmerizing rendition of the signature "Harder, Better Faster, Stronger" taking full advantage of their collective musical scale, simulating an electrifying automated symphony.
Contrasting the falsetto Avi shows off the depth of his baritone while Kevin spits at a rapid-fire pace.
The song showcases every member of Pentatonix in the solo spotlight and as support, highlighting their versatility and diversity as an ensemble. Featuring the recognized cover format they emerged as, the futuristic captivating vocals they became known for, and the composition of this stunning, grammy award winning Acapella arrangement "Daft Punk" encapsulates the various sounds abilities and styles that make PTX.

There’s a reason why “Idle Delilah” is the opening track of the album. The song itself is about a little girl who’s father owned slaves … the slaves murdered her as revenge, since Delilah was their favorite child … and the ghost of her lurks the world without any real purpose or agenda, but just casually shuffling through emotions. Sonically, the song samples “Pearson Sound” by Wad heavily, which creates an almost euphoric, but pumping and upbeat soundscape with the use of many different instruments such as xylophones, overlaid drum(beats), and rock-styled guitars. With about each minute you get into the song, you hear something new — whether it’s from an extensive instrumental-driven intro, to Azealia’s vocal performance, to Azealia’s rapping abilities, or even just the overall lyrical content of the song … Azealia is able to just SCRATCH the surface with little brilliant tastes of all components that makes a song great. I know that after I first heard “Idle Delilah”, I was incredibly intrigued to listen to the rest of Broke With Expensive Taste, and I hope you are too.

Stressed Out is probably the most fitting song to represent the album ‘blurryface'. Blurryface is a personal album. It is about the own experiences and feelings of the duo. The song tackles about the reminisce of childhood and the difficulties of being an adult. It also talks about the relationship with family. This song makes us realize that life as an adult is not as easy as when we were still a child. Life changes and becomes more challenging as we grow up. The duo reminisce the times that they were still young , spending good times with their families without being stressed out. The song also talks about the insecurities that the duo had. The term ‘blurryface’ in the lyrics proves that the main idea of the album is about all the things they are insecure of and what they believe of. The lyrics may not be so symbolic as the other lyrics in the album, but it looks like that it is the summary of the album. The instrumentals also gives additional effect on the song. It makes us really reminisce our past.

15. holyground: Florence + the Machine - 'How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful': 'How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful'

Why I'm choosing the title track as the representative song of the album is because it encompasses what the album is thematically and sonically. It introduces a toxic relationship, which is the theme throughout the album. One moment she's describing the relationship and the emotions as beautiful, and at another moment she's not sure. Just like the album, she doesn't pinpoint an emotion and expound on it, rather she lets herself immerse in them, never being black or white on the love that she had.
The first half of the song has a rockier feel, which Florence finds herself returning to on a couple of tracks in the album. The second half is a sweeping outro instrumented by horns, which is the main new sound of the album. The dual-facet of this song showcase the album's sound best.
Just like the title suggests, the song makes you think about how the album is not only vast, but also unpredictable. It's not only sweeping, but you might get carried away. Not only is it seemingly beautiful, it is ambiguous. This song is just as expansive as the big blue sea or sky, as such it's the representative track of this album.

There's singing, rapping, heartbreak and aggressivenes all in one song.
The album has poppy songs with singing, which Jesse does in TCG, there's of course rapping which Nicki does. There's a lot of heartbreak songs on The Pinkprint aswell as in TCG.
And of course the aggressiveness that Nicki is known for.
It definitely represents the album the best. She even included it as the first track in The Pinkprint Movie.

Her 3rd studio album, “A Different Me”, introduced us to a sexier side of Cole that no one was familiar with. She crossed-over to the world of POP, infusing her sultry vocals with up-tempo beats, and a very charismatic personality.
I chose this album and song (which I will introduce shortly) because it represents the risks that some artists take to reach cross-over appeal. Many people aren’t familiar with this album because Cole was no longer singing about heartbreak and pain, but instead embracing love and happiness. I believe this album it’s a gem that was released ahead of its time, and I’m hoping that some, if not most of you will appreciate this masterpiece. Without further ado here is “A Different Me (Intro)”, short, self explanatory, and a small taste of what’s to come. Enjoy!

As Little Mix themselves have already said, "Get Weird" is about embrancing your inner weirdness, being confident, accepting who you are and enjoying life like nothing else matters. That's why "Weird People" is the song that best represents the spirit of the album. In the lyrics, Little Mix encourages everyone to be who they wanna be, do what they want, how they want, without caring about other people's judgement, cause there's nothing wrong in being different as long as you're true to yourself, no one should tell you how to live your life. When it comes to the sound, the album is filled with great pop songs, ballads and a bit of a R&B touch, but the main thing is the 80s/old school sound they managed to include in most of the songs, and yet make them sound fresh and current. "Weird People" represents that sound perfectly, it's old school, but it's still a great and catchy pop song you can dance to in the club nowadays.

It then follows a catchy guitar line through the verse all the way into its ginormous chorus. All the elements work together to create a big, catchy pop-punk gem that gets lodged in the brain. All of this album's songs follow in that they are pop-punk goodness at the core with catchy guitar riffs, lyrics about various relationships, and choruses to die for. Everything about it represents how the album sounds all in an enjoyable, catchy little package.

Being placed right after a short intro, it instantly sets the mood and theme for the rest of the album. It features everything Nightwish is known for and a bit of everything Imaginaerum aimed to become: it features an insanely catchy chorus which is in its own way appealing to fans of every genre (and so is the entire longplay), guitar riffs and drums being only a background for the heavy orchestration prepares the listener for what's to come, and the powerful vocal performance demonstrates Anette's huge improvement as a vocalist - the record's filled with other surprising deliveries. Not only its melody and structure are a good representation, the lyrics inspired by the stories of Peter Pan and the Greek goddess Gaia among others bring the listener back to his childhood when his life was just a big fairytale and his imagination knew no boundaries. Similar topics were explored in other tracks on the album. And in the end, its quality is just as high as entire Imaginaerum's.

Post is an album that flirts with a wide range of genres, from chill trip-pop to big band jazz and is probably her only real album that perfectly straddles the line between commercial pop and eccentric experimentation; Enjoy plays with this dichotomy with its simple lyrics and dark aggressive beat; the song is just catchy enough to remember, but employs a production that distinguishes it from the rest of the album, and most of her pop contemporaries in the 90's. Is it her most pop work? No. Is it her most experimental? No. But Enjoy serves as an easy introduction into the album that I think most would appreciate. In typical "Björk" fashion, this love song isn't about getting the boy, or talking about love, but letting whatever happens, happen. Enjoy perfectly encapsulates Björk's willingness to experiment - "I'm only into this to / Enjoy".

Norf Norf is a banger, the most immediate song on Summertime ’06. It’s one of those songs that goes straight to hips and the booty, almost forcing them to groove along with the song, and the song is enjoyable enough on that level. There’s more to it than that though.
While Norf Norf’s dark, nearly threatening beat has control of your body, Vince takes the opportunity to establish the grim reality of his hometown of Long Beach, California. Vince’s Long Beach is one in which violence and potential death lurks around every corner. The 3 minute runtime of the song is populated with gangs, gun violence, and drug dealing. All the tight lyrical details are delivered nonchalantly, tossed off as an accepted fact of everyday life. Despite all the violence and danger, Vince makes it known that he “ ain't never ran from nothin' but the police.”
Vince’s storytelling can drop you right into the menacing and intoxicating world of the North Side of Long Beach that Summertime ’06 takes place in if you let it, or you can just take the song as the quality banger it is; Norf Norf establishes the tone however you choose to take it.

The fact that she wrote these songs for different people through so many different lenses and was still able to capture emotions and stories that hold true with so many listeners is something that is simply amazing and just has to be shared here on CTATAS.
From the last CTATAS that I was a part of, up until now, so much has happened. There have been a lot of good times, and there have also been extremely bad times. Through all of life’s trials and tribulations though, I have survived and here I am: I’M STILL BREATHING!

Demi sounds strong and powerful in this track and that shows that she has finally had her true power and musical ability in this track just like every single other tracks of the album. “So you say I’m complicated / .. / But you’ve had me underrated.”, all of that, are all saying that she is the boss of the game and we’re in her game with the album and she’ll take us to a full ride of emotion which is gonna be beautiful and full of confidence. This track, just like some of the tracks in the album, doesn’t have a real chorus, which shows that she can control us in any second of the track and don’t need a huge breaking point to catch the attention."

I just through the entries. There were some great ones. I still have to listen to a couple songs I don't know, but I can tell already it's going to be hard to vote.
I'm also bummed Yvess didn't send.

I haven't checked much about the entries. I will reserve that for sunday BUT I think we are into a very fierce competition! It's going to be fun!
